No, I Wasn't Abducted by Aliens....I Think.

And oh yeah, I'm still alive and back from the Midwest. So far no one here has asked to touch my hair because "they've always wanted to see what it's like".

Yeah, I was less than thrilled living out there.

I've always felt like I was a half a step to the conservative side of a center. Out in Indiana, I was a flaming liberal. Yay.

I'm around on Facebook, patti_cinemaabe. Job hunting and trying to get my mothers rather messed up life in order means I'm not on social media a lot. I'm also not crazy about the fast food nature of communication on Facebook, so there is that, but I'm around.

People actually touch your hair? *boggles* I mean, yay for pretty hair but holy fuck how does an adult get through life without learning NO TOUCHIE as a basic rule???

Black people, being subhuman, exotic, "the other", etc, are not entitled to bodily integrity, expected to serve as a spokesperson for their race and grin and shuffle whenever a white person says or wears something racially unsavory because "they were just kidding".

Welcome to the Midwest!

I've heard that's a problem minorities (especially black women) face. I'm so sorry you have to deal with that bullshit. It must be infuriating and exhausting.

Well, if you had been abducted by aliens, I'd expect you to tell us all about it in tedious detail :-D
