This makes me happier than it honestly should. I've never really agreed with the MPAA and I don't believe that they're doing things according to any kind of "standards" which should be met, but after Half-Blood Prince got a PG rating when it was by far the darkest film of the Harry Potter series, especially involving a major character death, a maiming and not to mention torture, I was very hesitant about the future of the final installment. Thankfully, the PG-13 rating a lot of HP fans wanted was granted earlier today. The MPAA states the reason for the rating as "for some sequences of intense action violence and frightening images". This means we'll get to see a lot of the violence and dark nature of the final book in movie form rather than have it get cut or downplayed for the sake of appealing to families and younger viewers. Deathly Hallows is set for release in the US on November 19.
Now, excuse me while I throw on my Slytherin robes just for the heck of it in celebration of this news :)
