Underworld 4 casting now

It's no secret that I absolutely adore the first Underworld film, even with its flaws. For me, it gave vampires back their teeth...until the godawful abomination that is Twilight came along -shudder-

Anyway, I try to pretend that Evolution never happened and Rise of the Lycans was mildly entertaining.  With the confirmation of a fourth film in the franchise I was excited beyond belief! Will this be the time that it gets back to its original intent and gives me as a fan a meaty plot to expound upon the relationships between the warring clans and that of Selene and Michael?!

....Apparently not. First off, the good news. Sony Pictures is holding open auditions to anyone with a camcorder and Internet access (and over 18 and a US resident, I should add). Anyone interested in being a "pivotal female" role can submit audition tapes and headshots right over here. I was so stoked to see this I was seriously considering auditioning myself in an attempt to help try turn the franchise back around and get back to the spirit of the first one, despite not having any acting experience whatsoever (but I do like to have Pretend Time when getting bored to tears at work. Don't judge me).

Little did I know how deluded I truly was. JoBlo and Bloody Disgusting both posted the newly-released synopsis for the fourth movie, and here it is: "After being held in a coma-like state for fifteen years, vampire Selene (Kate Beckinsale) learns that she has a fourteen-year-old vampire/Lycan hybrid daughter, Nissa, and when she finds her they must stop BioCom from creating super Lycans that will kill them all."

I headdesked. HARD. The second I finished reading I threw all plans to get headshots and whatnot out the window. Of course I'd love to be in a film (or even just audition for one, honestly), but not at the cost of whatever integrity I might have in my body. I mean, for real? For really real? REALLY??? Doesn't that plot just make you wanna tear your eyes out and throw them into the Dead Sea? I sincerely hope that there's more to the movie than THAT. Number one, it just sounds stupid. Number two, the heart of the story is supposed to be Selene and Michael's forbidden love and how the bloodfeud affects them and vice versa. Any time kids get put into established scenarios like that it brings down the whole movie. Look at Legend of Zorro. Look at The Mummy Returns.

I'll be perfectly frank: I don't go to movies to see kids. Kids annoy me. Unless the movie is centered on children (Chronicles of Narnia, Labyrinth, Muppet Treasure Island, Golden Compass, etc), I don't want to see them in starring roles. It's not that I don't like kids, I just don't find them worth my time and money in movies. And a kid in a movie like THIS is just begging for a mallet on the camera.

I sincerely hope the finished product is a good piece of work, but at this point I'm giving up on the series. I'll probably see it in theaters, but even that's not likely for me anymore. You two Swedish guys I've never heard that are directing this: don't fuck up.
