Patrick Swayze's publicist just confirmed rumors that Swayze has pancreatic cancer, has been undergoing chemo that isn't working, and has been given 5 weeks to live.  He is 55 years old and has dropped 20lbs in the past few weeks

Apparently Swazye's prognosis has improved.

'Dirty Dancing' star Patrick Swayze is being treated for pancreatic cancer, his spokesman said tonight.

The actor had a very limited amount of disease and appeared to be responding well to treatment, according to Dr George Fisher, Swayze's doctor.

The doctor's prognosis was included in a statement released today by Swayze's representative, Annett Wolf.

"Patrick is continuing his normal schedule during this time, which includes working on upcoming projects," the statement said

I know I watch MASH too much but this is creepy. I just watched an episode the other night with a young Swayze as a guest star. He was wounded but his buddy was going to die without a blood transfusion.. Swayze's character fervently offers to be the donor as they share the same blood type. When the Hawkeye cross-matches Swayze's blood, they found out he has leukemia and only a few weeks to live. Even with this news, Swayze stays by his buddy's side and the buddy recovers. Faced with the inevitable loss of his own life, Swayze's character can only think of his friend's well-being. It was a touching and wonderful performance.
