The mini-tornado rumor is true. My brother-in-law was hit by it in his car. (He lives in that area.) He's fine, but still freaky.
His wife decided that it might be a good idea to move her car. About 20 minutes after she moved it, the big tree that she was previously parked under fell and would have totaled her brand new car. I used this as another example to Matt on why women have really awesome intuition.

I hope your grandfather is okay!
Once you make the move out West, you will find mother nature will try to fuck with you every time you go home to visit.

It certainly was madness and I think all the bad stuff happened while I was in the subway because it was raining really hard when we emerged out of it but the train didn't seem to be much affected.

I ended up walking home, though, because no brown lines trains were coming because the weather had severely delayed them. I walked down Belmont and Lincoln, but until I got to my street I had no idea how insane it was. All down my street there were huge branches from trees on streets and sidewalks. Amazingly my car and Ben's, while parked on the street, did not get hit by the falling trees (though the spot Ben had intended to move my car to did).

We were still running on generator power when I left for work this morning. I hope it'll be back by the time I get there tonight but I'm not particularly confident.
