You may have noticed that we have randomly added you and wondered who we are and why we have taken a sudden interest in you.
Cinematixyz is a joint blog. No, we don't light up together (not daily, any way). We are four very different people with very different personal blogs, The one thing that we have in common is a deep love of the arts and especially movies. We each have our favorites and we each have directors or films/shows we loath but in general, film and good television are a huge part of our lives. So the four of us started by telling each other about films we had been watching and giving little reviews. After awhile, we got the idea to do a group blog and write as one voice about movies. So all four of us have the password and all four ARE
cinematixyz but here is where it gets interesting. Since we are so involved in other communities and known elsewhere blog-wise, we have each taken on an alias. We became R., Xim, Yearrghsworth, and Zu.
And that's how we tell you which of us wrote which film review. But that's all you get to know because in this project/experiment we didn't want to get too bogged down with personal identity. We just wanted it to be about the Movies and Telly. Are we Male? Yes. Are we female? Yes. Are we in the South? Yes. In the North? Yes. Are we in our Twenties, Thirtysomething, or over Forty? Yes, Yes, Yes. Individually we are all of these things and more but as a collection, we have film history down pat and a passionate love for the craft and art that most cannot rival.
All we will let you know about us personally for now is this:
One of us is a Techno-junkie Gamer Gadgeteer into Computers, Zombies, Horror, Musicals,and Action-Adventure films. A technologically gifted person with the ability to build or repair anything. A laid-back type of person with a naughty sense of humor.
One of us is a life long film fan and filmmaker whose influences include: Carl Sagan, Stanley Kubrick, Terry Gilliam, Jim Henson, Orson Welles, John Lennon, David Lynch, Francis Ford Coppola, Arthur C. Clarke, Roger Waters, George Lucas, James Cameron, Jon Anderson, Ridley Scott, John Carpenter, Vangelis, George Harrison and Woody Allen. This reviewer hopes they will create a work that inspires others as much as they've been inspired.
And the last one of us is an Avid-Reader and Music Fan who's into History, Documentaries, New Wave and Post-Punk Synth Pop music. Loves Poetry, Romance, Introspection, Animals and is a proud Vegetarian and Atheist.
One of us is an almost film school graduate who loves reading a good book better than a party. A professional nag by day and a daydreamer round the clock who dislikes labels but will discuss the nature of them with anyone. A person of faith.
================================================================================
So that's us. Now, why did we add you?? Well, we went through by interests, trying to find people into the same things we are . Then once a group of fans was found, one by one we read a few of your entries and if you seemed to be "our type of people" (talented, smart, cosmic, dark, interesting, open-minded, funny, witty, dry or black humor, intelligent, and had something to say that was worth reading), we added you. If you like what we have to say too and add us in return, then we have just been LJ mated and can skip off into the ether and talk about Films, Art, Music, Life, or whatever. If you would rather not be a part of this, just send us a note and I will remove you, no questions asked. Just take it as a compliment. One or more of us felt you were one of ten people we 'invite' a month.
We have recently branched out into discussions on Television (but just the good stuff like Twilight Zone, Lost, Twin Peaks, The Prisoner, Doctor Who, Red Dwarf and such and you are more than welcome to take our Television Poll at any time) and eventually we might branch out into Books and Music or might take on more writers but for now, this is Who we are, What we do, and Why we picked you. You're Special. See, your mother was right!! ;)
If we have not added you but you found us and think joining in the discussions on film and life is right up your alley, by all means feel free to add us. We welcome newcomers as long as they enjoy movies and we will promptly add you in return, unless you're a bot. We enjoy movies with Robots...but not bots here. LOL
Also, we believe that all media, especially music, film, good TV, books and performing or visual arts ARE a part of life, so don't feel restricted to just talk about the film we are discussing. If that film (or album, or show) has a connection to your 'real life' or makes you feel or remember things about your childhood, life, an ex, pain, joy, or any of these, by all means, share!! Good Art is SUPPOSE to make us think and feel.... so if you have something to say, you will be heard here.
One last thing:
The only real rule is try to stay positive and nice to each other. There is enough negativity in the world, why invite or make more? State your opinions all you want, but let's be open minded and kind to each other while doing so, agreed?
Any Questions? No?? Okay, Coffee, Tea, and Doughnuts in the back and smoke 'em if ya got 'em.
