I found out this morning, during my first class of the semester (Plant Breeding and Biotechnology) that the Earth Liberation Front set fire to the Plant & Soil Science building here at MSU in 2000.  The ELF was busy that year because they also planted bombs at the Forestry building greenhouses at MTU.  I remember being jealous that

Yeah, it was shortly after 9/11 because I remember I was a little freaked out because I thought Houghton was one of the safest places to be and then that happened...

I'm really thankful Public Safety found them. I think there was two or three 55 gallon drums full of explosives.

I was looking at a timeline for ELF activity, and it was Fall of '01. My memory is not the greatest...but I knew that already. After looking at the timeline we were really lucky at Tech because that was the only attack (from what I could see while skimming) that was prevented. Most aren't.
