They finally posted Jack (the cat) on petfinder... I think we're going to get him tomorrow!!

My fellow dual cat-having friends -- how did your cats deal with a new friend?  I've been looking at some tips for introducing them slowly.  I think it'll go OK though because Shakespeare was raised in a house with like 7 cats, and Jack also comes from a ( Read more... )

When we brought Ashton home... (did I even tell anyone we got another cat? I can't remember, LOL.)... I held Ashton and John held Amaretto and we kind of let them sniff eachother. However, that lasted about 10 seconds until they both hissed and wanted down. Ashton literally lived under our couch for about two weeks. I felt bad, but I could hear him using the litter boxes at night and I'm sure he was eating at that time too. Little by little they started to come around and it's really only been recently that they just started to play with one another.

Honestly, if the cats are uncomfortable, they will just run and hide for awhile. I just let the cats do what made them comfortable...hints, letting Ashton live under the couch for two weeks. I didn't want to force them to like one another right off of the bat, in fear, it would make things worse in the long run.

Jack is verrrrrrrrrrry cute!!! I'm sure your kitties will get along just fine!

I let Pickle sniff Chubs in the carrier for awhile and then let Chubs out. When I left I would lock one of them up just in case. Pickle hated Chubs for like 2 months but now they are good friends.

I let Hamburger down and she ran under the bed right away... she was still wild though. Grubs didn't like her at all. They both growled and hissed and everything. But they would play with each other with be bedskirt between them. If one came out where the other one could see, though.. the hissing started again. It was pretty funny. I think they were in denial. But now they're lesbian lovers.
