Today, it was reported the latest research that says what lots of us have known for awhile: the required password-changes don't help security. Friend of mine in High School realized that there was a password length limit of 255 characters for the network login (we were the first highschool on the Internet..) and as a result, used some very unorthodox, but easy to remember passwords.

Was always funny to watch him log in.. Brief typing of the six-character account name, followed by a flurry of typing for the password. I actually watched him carefully once..

"Was that.. 'There once was a man from Nantucket'?"
"Yep!"
"The whole thing?"
"Yep! Good luck hacking that, huh?"
