KITTEH.

Thank you! Is this the right time to tell you how badly overexposed it is, or should I just shut up and accept the compliment? /raised by Calvinists

Oh, I don't think it's badly overexposed -- I think it's really bold and rightly so. I assumed (insert bad joke) that it was a choice. And a good one at that.

I'm still learning everything about photography myself (slowly, sadly), but I know what I like, and I like your photo. Maybe the Calvinist principles will just allow us to be learners together? I was raised Catholic but in a voodoo society, so I either attribute everything to a loa or assume it's a sin even before I done thought it. I definitely like my guilt-free paganism as opposed to my guilt-ridden Catholicism. Being a Catholic is flipping exhausting.

The kit-cat agrees with me regarding your talent. Emphatically. :D

You should be able to see detail in the petals, but they just show as flat patches of red. Twasn't a choice, but it was the best I could do with a little no-frills digital whilst standing on a rock on a steep bank, hanging on to a little tree with one hand and holding another branch that was in front of the flower behind my back, leeeeeeeeeeeaning out to get closer, and trying to hold my camera hand steady even though I have a tremor and the wind was blowing. WHEW.

My dad was a professional photographer, so I'm extremely critical of my stuff. (This doesn't qualify as "my stuff"-- it's just a snapshot. I used to have a real camera, and took real pictures.)

It's funny. I was baptized into the Episcopal Church when I was 32, but only because I figured lush Anglican ritual would keep my Puritanical instincts in check. It's an uneasy arrangement.

And you've inspired me to do a post on some of my favorite photographers.

They're kind of bashful, in spite of their appearance. They like to grow in out of the way places, like the middle of this swamp here; so if that's not the kind of place you tend to go, you probably won't see them.

Oh man, I'm really bad at domesticated plants, but I'll try!
