The health class I missed at Andover

I'm surfing LJ instead of doing my homework, but I've managed to find something interesting. Life Issues 100 (LFIS 100) is a mandatory course for all Lowers (10th graders), where they address eating disorders, stress management, study skills, and basically how to make wise decisions at a boarding school.

I'm sad to say it, but much as it sounds useful, I don't think the teachers addressed the topics very well. There was a lot of discussion, but as none of the students took the course seriously, the teachers didn't really go in depth where it counted.

Where did it count?

I guess it goes to show how badly out of touch adults are with adolescent reality. ...And Christ, that was an awkward construction!

Worthless class. Sole redeeming feature was the brevity with which it met. Far too mushy to provide any leverage of any kind.

I'm glad I missed it then.

Finally one thing I can be grateful for.

I'm Catrina, class of '05. If you haven't done so already, check out the leave of absence policy on page 10 (in my edition) of the Blue Book. The folks at Graham House like to latch onto "warning signs". Isham sucks, too. Health services at Andover suck in general.
