Oh my! Where has all the time gone? I've been so incredibly busy lately, I don't even know where to begin.
Since I posted last, I attended Keanu and Anderson's wedding, and it was absolutely beautiful. (I told you, it's been a LONG time!). It was everything I dreamed of in a wedding, the location was gorgeous, everyone had a great time, and of course, I've never seen a happier couple. The reception was a blast too, even though I arrived late since I had to fly back to LA right after the wedding to perform a concert, and then fly back. Fashionably late, I think ;)
After talking to Jason, Ke, and a few other people, I decided on a whim to take an impromptu vacation to Europe. I specifically chose Greece, and within 4 days, had decided on a trip, a location, bought plane tickets and made hotel reservations, and was on a flight there. I scheduled it to have a layover of about 8 hours in London, so I could meet up with my and Christian's daughter Chyna, who's been going to an acting and playwriting academy in Cambridge. She has grown up so much since we last saw her, she's such a beautiful young woman now, and she's doing so well, doing something she loves. She'll be back to visit us before long, and I can't wait.
Chyna and I had such a fun time with each other, that 8 hours wasn't nearly enough for us, and I booked her on the same flight from Heathrow to Athens, and changed my hotel reservation to accommodate the both of us. We wound up staying in Greece for nearly 2 weeks, and it couldn't have been better. I spoiled her (and me!) absolutely rotten. We had full spa treatments, shopped til we dropped (we had to ship our new things home!), and of course, took in all the sights and sound the city had to offer. We even went to Crete, and swam in the Mediterranean. I think Chyna's favorite part was seeing all the old amphitheaters and getting to go down there, and stand where the stage once was, looking up at everyone in the seats. She's always wanted to be a stage actress, and recently finished up playing the role of Cordelia in her Academy's rendition of King Lear, bringing in RAVE reviews. I'm so proud of her! I needed the break from everything too, so I came back feeling totally refreshed, and happier than I've been in quite some time. Chyna told me all her friends are impossibly jealous too, and that they think I'm the coolest mom ever. As long as she thinks that, that's all I ask. I couldn't have asked for more in that trip!
After returning to the states, I hung out in New York for awhile, before heading back to LA, where I am now. I hadn't had a vacation like this for quite some time, and though it was totally amazing, it's still good to be back in the city, and back home again. Talk about a welcome home gift though - LA gave me an EARTHQUAKE this morning. But, it was east of the city a little ways, thank goodness. It's been all over the news, but nothing here was damaged, and thankfully, nobody has been killed. Now I just have to succumb to news broadcasts and doom-sayers about how THE BIG ONE is on its way. Oh puh-leeze. They were saying that when I was a kid.
ANYWAY, the mixing and everything is just about done for the new album too, so look for it to be out later this year, MAYBE early next year. Rumor is I've got a pretty great guitarist on there with me ;)
I hope you're all well!
