I am grossly disappointed with my Sociology of Gender prof. From the beginning of the class I could tell that I was going to have problems with the class because most of her argumentation was anecdotal. To science, anecdotal evidence is worthless for a number of reasons. tNamely, anecdotal evidence is not an experiment which has conditions and a ( Read more... )

This sounds oddly similar to La Grange's AP Chem / Physics teacher.
Despite being a practicing electrical engineer for twenty years, he seemed completely unable to solve correctly simple math problems, algebraic expressions, etc. etc.... copy equations directly from the book, etc... read...

I think he also tried telling us that centripetal and centrifugal forces were a myth, but by that point I had stopped taking him seriously, and it's possible that I made that up completely.

Honestly, I always thought Sociology of Gender would be more about how people react to gender, stereotypes, and more "social" things like that.

I saw the class on the listing and was interested, but now I'm thankful that you, not I, were the guinea pig here. Thanks for letting me see the light, without having to go through the pain of finding out first-hand!

print this out and tape it to the survey at the end of the semester!

True dat, then he can add on throughout the semester about all the other "discrepancies" in her teachings..

It could end up being a thesis.

Lol, i totally would except I have a feeling that as soon as she moves past the bio/psy based lectures I won't have any background to verify her facts. I mean, I won't know instantly the study that I can look up which will disprove what she is saying. I also can't look up the "studies" she quotes because she doesn't cite them and is entirely to vague for me to look up through an index at the library.

I was soooo looking forward to this class too =(

I'm surprised she was immensely helpful and competent in her Social Research class that I took with her and I have heard from other people that they loved her gender class. I'm sure it will get better once you get to areas that shes actually knowledgeable in...

still damn... someone should tell her about those mistakes so she can cut that out of her class, I don't even know why she needs to go into biology in a sociology of gender class...
