Hey hon,
Great travelogue! Thanks for that.
The pics of Paris and Brugge are a great window on your life circa 2006 - the shots of you and the boys are deliciously 20something.
But...I'm wondering just what Albania looks like? Please don't make me go to some Albanian tourist site to find out.
Happy Canadian Thanksgiving to you this weekend. Try to find some Romanian turkey & cranberry sauce. (And, as a point of comparison: forecast lows in the lower mainland overnight - 1 degree celsius. Fall is well and truly upon us. Enjoy the sun!)
How lucky you are

Wow, Albania. Generations have been unable to travel there at all because it was completely isolated from the outside world until 1991. Prior to that they only had horse-drawn carriages and cars from the 1940s or earlier because they couldn't import cars or the metal to make them. Sounds like once the barriers were lifted the Germans were right in there, hence all the Mercedes.
So consider yourself fortunate to have been able to see a country that only came into the modern age 16 years ago, and is obviously struggling hard to catch up. And remember that Albania is the only country occupied by the Axis during WW2 that had more Jews at the end than at the beginning. That fundamentally Muslim country (at the time) worked hard to protect their Jews and any who fled there by forging documents for them.
Anyway, I hope you saw some of the ancient history that is there, as well. Perhaps Apollonia? I'll just have to wait for the next exciting chapter to find out.
