I have no idea if I'm going to be able to keep this up, but here's to the start of a more regular style of posting from me. They won't always be long posts, but there you go. I may also make some posts for dates long gone as nice things have happened in the last year or so that I've barely mentioned, if at all -- even if I had fully intended to ( Read more... )

I've been flat hunting these last few months as situation is changing and I gotta move out of the house real soon especially WHEN dad goes into a residential place (he needs FULL full time care now and I'm no longer fit to provide it) so been browsing and found some pretty decent places in and around my area for at least 100 a week some or majority have been studios but they've been HUUUGE studios with perfect layout to really go nuts with design/set up (in my eyes) but some have been one bedroom flats. I dunno if it depends on the area you search or oyur flexibility in choices but there are bargins hidden here and there. Unfortuneatley it's just being quick enough.

Good Luck. :)

Oh, honey... that's an incredibly difficult position to find yourself in. Looking after a relative at any time can be hard, and in your position you deserve all the support we can give, physically, emotionally and mentally.

£400 a month seems incredibly reasonable (lowest I'd seen was around £700/m and the photos were dodgy at best). Would you live by yourself or will you be looking to share with someone you know (or maybe someone you don't in a flatshare with strangers)? And about being quick enough, there are two things to think about 1) knowing where to look for listings, and then 2) being able to see the places fast enough, as you say. Living in London would make it easier to find a place in London! And I'd also say my flexibility is... a little limiting at times. My rented flat in Nottingham is a little studenty for my tastes sometimes. Other times I like to think it's nicely lived-in with a rusted hint of bohemia...

i'm currently looking to live alone as I never have and being almost 30 that pisses me off because I've never truely had the freedom to do all the things you get to when living alone. But I'm also looking at a two bedroom place in case I feel after a few months I dont actually WANT to live alone after all lol. Considering we're currently paying 1500 a month and that doesnt cover bills 700 a month would be a massive drop and would leave me 800 a month for bills (if I was gonna, say, put away a years rent for the current location to one side for the next place, if that makes sense) ideally a one bedroom flat or even a large studio would make me happy and give me the incentive to get rid of a LOT of crap I've horded over the years due to hving the space to store it all lol ( ... )
