So, I haven't posted in a while. That's mainly because work's been going very well and I have a minimum of personal-life angst to pour forth. In fact, I don't think I've ever had it better than I do at the moment
( Read more... )
I'm in this boat I have 3 months left but I've been finding loads of 1 bedroom/large studios for 185 a week I know when we discussed it (months a go now lol) but your idea on rent was quite unrealistic unless you were sharing a house you could most likely get a room in a houseshare for £100 a week if not a little less. I'm getting emails every-fricking-day for flat/houseshare & studio apartments when what I'm looking for is a 1-2 bedroom flat. I knew I wasnt gonna stay here in my current location after I realised I had no form of air circulating into the flat and am now suffering slight breathing issues what with all the damp and rot but hey only 3 more months hopefully the inside of my lungs wont be mouldy by then that I'm paying for it for good lol. What companies have you been using to search for a flat? London is so expensive now I'm having to think about moving OUT of London lol I was looking at Derby weirdly enough although I'm apparently entitled to flat there (I applied to the council list not for cheap rent but slightly more
( ... )
TBH I can't recall what kind of rent I was talking about last time we talked about this (we talked about this?) but the way I see it, two people paying close to £600 each could whip up between them a lovely place in the outer suburbs of the City.
Derby is nice enough, but it's quiet and it's only a small town... Nottingham would be better for gigs and fun things to do, and a direct rail link to London. Still, it would be a real shame if you managed to move out just as I moved in -- that would be an honest-to-gods painful irony, as I'd love to see you more often than I do.
Question is, what is your upper budget?.. thinking about bills and travel costs etc too... Are you not contemplating a houseshare at all then?
That sounds terrible about the damp etc, and I'm glad you're moving out of there because it will damage you, it'll cause asthmatic reactions, headaches etc and we don't want that to happen to you. <3

No, no sharing so soon I've really enjoyed these last 9 months living alone and want to continue for a little while longer I would LOVE a 2 bedroom place maybe down the line I can think about renting out the second room (like I had meant to with this place but in a weird way as I knew I wasn't staying I haven't even unpacked everything still don't see the point as I may be moving again, a year may be long but it's flown by and it's scary
( ... )
I do know what you mean: privacy is important but I'm still gonna say aw, that's a shame, cos I think living with you would'a been pretty cool!
Yes, time does fly by fast. I still don't recall this conversation... the last time I saw you was at Jackie's birthday do last year, and before that it had been a number of years... and we didn't have long enough last time anyway as I had to head home before midnight...
This time last year I was in a different position, jobless, and all sorts of stuff. Now, things are better and I can afford a higher rent if need be...
So I'm gonna write this in black and white: why don't we arrange a meet up some day soon? Before you leave London and I leave Kent for who knows where... it would be good to catch up!
My place will be empty in about a month. 2 bed house central heating, mostly double glazed (except kitchen & bathroom), rent's very good, location's not the best (Handsworth) but I've never had any bother. There is room for a car to park on the front, both on the property and on the road. Handy for the M5 J1. It's a good little house, I'm only moving 'cause I want to be nearer family.
Ooh, thankyou for thinking of me! Could be interesting... I know a few people in Wolverhampton and Birmingham certainly has the entertainment factor. Hmm... Do you have any photos? and an idea of rent price? I can't promise anything but it would be nice to see. :)
Hihi! -- oh, I'm as bad, takes me DAYS before I get the time to write even a little reply... Hello, dearheart! :) It's nice to hear from you, no matter how random or randomly.
Life is ticking along in a decent fashion, there's little to complain about that isn't part of the lifestyle choice really. I'm glad sunny days are here though, in every which way.
Glancing across your recent LJs I get the impression you've left or changed job, but what other "domestic changes" have you been through?
Still in the same job, tragically. Hating it more every day and looking for two new ones. Currently signed off sick, though, as I've had glandular fever. Hubby is now "PC" hubby and my sister emigrated. See - thrilling *g*
Hey - I'm finally remembering to make contact (yeesh). Jeremy and I are headed to the UK in the very near future (May 24-June 7) - have you moved southward, as this post suggests you might, or are you still more northerly? We're planning a day out to London (without the wee one) for some Shakespeare and hopefully some time with Vic (I should probably tell Vic...geez!). If you're London-based then I'll try to remember the actual date I had in mind. If you're not, then we can try something else iffin you're interested... Yup. :)
'Ello there! Sorry for taking so long to reply -- I don't check here very often actually, these days.
Am very (pleasantly, of course!) surprised to hear from you. Glad all is going well :)
I currently "live" in Folkestone, which is SE of London and about 90mins away by train. That's not to say I can't drive to see folks for a few hours wherever they are in the country :) As for weekends, I most likely will be in London for May 31 / June 1st so perhaps we can tie a meet there... all other weekends are either booked or you're travelling.
Hopefully you'll get some of our good weather too! Looks like it should be a decent summer for us, huzzah!
June 1st looks like the best candidate, but of course we'll have to see what his family might have planned. Hopefully they have nothing more ambitious in mind for that day than babysitting. >:D
King Lear's at the Globe at 1:00 on the 1st. There's also a Dr. Who exhibit that I sent Jeremy a link to that he hasn't looked at. Kind of different ends of the spectrum, but hopefully we'll get to one of those that day. Enjoying your company before, during, and/or after would be fab.
Well, laundry to do and vacuuming...even though we live in squalor most of the time, I really do hate coming back to such a state after vacation... :D
Gah. Don't you just hate it when a page refreshes while you're trying to write a post? Post all gone byebyes and that's phenominally annoying.
Hmm, from memory:
Hello! I'm sure you're in the wonderfully rainy UK by now, and I can only hope that you're continuing to check your email by any means available... I should have passed on my phone number already -- it's the same as ever: 0796 8783561.
I'm staying in a hotel near Earl's Court for the evening of the 31st, and no-one seems to know what is happening the next day. I'm trying to get the info but that's proving to be an excruciatingly slow business.
I've not checked availability of Lear tix so it's very possible we may need to arrange something either before midday, or after 4pm, but I'm sure both options are fine. Just as long as I'm on a train come midnight, I'll be fine :)
Sorry about the brevity of this post. The other one was (marginally) more funny but, well, post lost and all that and now I have to crack on with work...

Sounds like life is good, and I'm glad - it's taken a while, but I guess that just makes you appreciate it better, huh?
All sorts of various domestic change for me, none of which would be likely to interest you at all, so I'll just say all is well more or less.
Catch you soon I hope
