Forced vaccinations refers to kids having to have shots before the go to daycare or school where there are other kids.
You see, some parents believe that you can keep your kid healthy through wishful thinking. The fact that no one has had smallpox for 50 years due to the massive efforts of the world's governments to vaccinate everyone doesn't seem to register.
there's also a small part of the population that believes that autism is caused by vaccinations. This is the scientific literature, which has a number of articles on the issue and found that there was no link.
It's also really, really stupid, because things like measles and pneumococcal meningitis, both preventable through vaccinations, can be fatal. And even if so, they're damned uncomfortable diseases, and both are highly communicable. It's just plain irresponsible not to have your children vaccinated.
It's also really funny how most of these people would completely have their *pets* vaccinated. Guess they don't want little Spot to get rabies, but Junior can have all the diseases possible.
Even chicken pox is no fun. They didn't vaccinate for that when I was a kid. I had the worst case of chicken pox...between my toes, inside my ears, down the back of my throat...all while my parents were trying to sell their house. I was so glad I could get my son a shot instead of putting him through 2 weeks of itchy misery.
As for the studies showing no link between vaccines and autism - Americans aren't really good at listening to that sort of thing. There are studies showing that all manner of common things are bad for you, yet we still do them/eat them/smoke them/whatever.
