ubuntu is easy, mega easy to handle. There are minimal issues that i had to work out. the main thing I had issue wise was the flgrx driver(proprietary ATI drivers) I found out that if I got 8.10 all working, that when I upgraded to 9.04 it all worked, yet if I clean installed into 9.04 I had issues. It was weird. But I think it is because the backports collection is still needed to get things working right. The only things I need to try to get working is my remote for my hp laptop, and see if I can figure out how to get my indicator lights working right, and see if I can get my wlan switch working. It would be a cool thing to be able to turn off my wireless via that switch. *shrugs* things that arent much of big deal.
Ubuntu is based off Debian, so really either or dist would work. One big plus of Ubuntu is the community involvement is very high. Ubuntu is the flavour of the month/year...but hey, what ever works.
