I don't believe in karma. The bad guys win and the good guys lose too frequently for me to believe any other way. Stuff happens to people, and there's no cosmic sorting algorithm for it. The universe is indifferent to us all, but that just means that it's up to *us* individually and collectively to make it a good or bad place.
That aside, I do do random acts of kindness. My most recent: yesterday, as I was exiting the bank in town, I saw a woman with a pram heading towards the door. It would have been awkward for her to pass through (she would have had to push the door with her pram, and it was quite heavy), so I re-entered the bank and held the door open for her.
Why did I do it? No reason. Which is the best reason of all. :)
