I repped pretty hard for the logo but do not like W&M. DREAMWORKS REJECTS. No worse than most other mascots really tho.

What's cute about them? not seeing it because they're just one massive eye on a featureless block of steel. Vancouver mascots have cornered the market here tho I think so it was probably good not to just try and copy that (I SPOSE, bah).

Don't get the complaints (kids should be the JUDGE on this, as it is aimed at them right?).

Funny how one of them is blue and the other yellow (conservative-lib dem colours) (as pointed out on Newsnight last night)

I don't care for the Olympics as an event but the relentless negativity on any move is a tad ridiculous. And just you watch: when it comes round almost everyone will be delighted and cheered up by them.

it's funny, you don't notice the negativity one-upmanship until you find something you do actually like rather than just feeling 'meh' about, and then suddenly the 'i can make more h1tler jokes than you!'-ing starts to seem really... old-meme.

(theawl, i discovered yesterday, has taken to calling the UK 'knifecrime island', which is... actually, still kind of hilarious)

Cyclopses (cyclopes?) freak me out. I think this is probably due to an SF short story I once read with them in (I cannot remember the name or the details).

cyclopes, i think?

'freaked about about [thing] due to an sf short story you read once' is such an important reaction! It's why the Sf short story is such a great genre, even the vaguely dull serviceably-written ones usually contain at least two good ideas (even if they're just a throwaway image) that hook into your brain and remain even when the plot maguffin business is long forgotten...
