Some TSCC 2x22 "Born to Run" Thoughts

Apr 13, 2009 09:32

I thought I'd express in a few more words than I have before (and mainly in comments on other journals) what I've been thinking about some of the meaning to the ending for the TSCC season finale. I'd told several people that John's "heaven is hell", and so here's some more thoughts on that.

Well said.

And I was thinking this morning, the idea of "no fate but what we make", that sentiment has always been tempered by the specter of Future!John, the one who won the war, pulling strings, watching over them, guiding them. And now with this one, split second decision, John has entirely taken him out of the equation, not only for himself, but for humanity.

Yeah. I think we're going to get a little bit of 'A Beautiful Life' going on with John in Season 3. Where he sees what the future is like without him there to guide things and he will be forced to confront the need for him to be the man he is supposed to be.

Because if Sarah can't stop it (and she obviously can't alone, because the future he finds is ruined), then he has to be there to pick up the reins and save the world.

I love your take on John getting everything he wished for but not in the way he would have ever expected. As much as this episode disappointed me, I really did like his arrival in the future. That was fun.

So, are we walking today? :) Kind of looking forward to it myself.

I'm not sure yet. As the right ankle has finally started to fully heal, the left is sore and tender (from all the limping I think). At the very least I'll drop by and we can at least talk for a bit and catch up. I'll make an evaluation on what I'm able to do then.
