You're right that Prop 8 is crappy, but I think Duana's story makes it all that much bigger of a deal. We have to push forward on all fronts of civil rights. Voting down prop 8 moves our country towards a culture of acceptance rather than discrimination, even so incremental as it might seem. Progress in this country has always come in a series of fits and starts, and certainly does not happen equally across the land. Would that for Duana's sake, we were merely protesting along side her for civil rights for all Americans. Sad indeed that her death occurred in the same city where MLK was assassinated.
