"uncle joey"...my biology teacher in 9th grade... believed in nothing. and quite amusingly so. he said "some people think god made us. some people think we evolved. i think if god made us, he has a twisted sense of humor, and if we evolved, we aint done yet."

i can buy that. i also think that some people become science teachers to TEACH creationism.

kitten...who loudly declares that hearing "OH GOD!!" in the dark doesnt make you a deity. ;)

I've never understood why someone can't believe in both science AND god! As someone much wiser than I once said:

"Science tells you the how... NOT the why!"

i think that yes, science, and yes, divine inspiration. :)

then again, i'm really open minded about most things, and am willing to listen to theories about everything, you know?

First, we'll say that a majority of that 16% teach in Kansas. Then we'll say a majority of that 16% also teach in religion-oriented schools, where they have to believe it(or pretend to) to keep their jobs. Does that make you feel better?

Discover magazine had a good article on the debate between science and religion. Generally, the religious side wants nothing do with with the science side, while the scientists have no problem with religion.
