that sounds like a lovely vacation! As you know, I LOVE Cornwall!! I wanted to go to Penzance when Les and I were there, but there wasn't time.

EEP about not having a heater!!! And I agree with you about rich people who don't understand about "just getting more money." *sigh*. I do hope something works itself out.

I was drinking a cider (or Cyder as they spelt it) called Cornish Rattler. They had the coolest glasses with a picture of a snake on them, but my cunning plan was foiled when someone we were with shouted "you can't do that!".

But I was given a glass later, which was cool, and even a gift box with a really fancy version of the glass and the apple and pear ciders.

There's not much to Penzance, it's not really changed since I was a kid. There's St Michaels Mount which is always interesting, it's a monastery out in the bay that you get to via a causeway only at low tide.

I meant I tried to steal a glass...

But you know, getting a holiday cottage down there is actually comparatively cheap. If ever you get to come to England again, a bunch of us could hire a place and stay there for a few days and see the sites of Cornwall.

that is a cool glass! I knew what you meant, though.

That is a lovely idea, to rent a house and stay. I really want to go back to Cornwall, I just loved it. It was so gorgeous. And of course I have to come back to England sometime, there was so much I didn't get to see!

Stupid leaseholders demanding money. Grr.

Slightly worrying link for the poker but what did you think of Croquet? I'd have thought it would be right up your street.

I lost poker, but we only played for small steaks so it was only £10 for a couple of nights. It was fun, and considerably cheaper than going out to a pub or whatever.

Croquet up my street? Whatever are you trying to imply? Actually I did quite like it, I was utter crap at it, but I suppose I'll improve with practice.

Croquet is good because it is a) very genteel and b) fiendishly evil. I am certain that many a friendship and marriage has died on the croquet lawn, slayed by one knocking onto the post too many.
