You know how the trains companies are always harping on about how single tickets can be as low as £10, but when you try to purchase said mystical tickets they're inevitably sold out and you have to pay c. five hundred million pounds for a standard one instead? Well, it transpires that if you book several years in advance, one can obtain one of these near-mythical tickets. My Liverpool Lime Street to Watford Junction one cost me £8.25!

When your children are asking you for £200 to go to York with, you can say, "When I were a lad, we could have gone to York AND Liverpool for less than £50. What the fuck happened to those days? Eh? Eh? Eh? Eh? Eh? Eh?"

If my children ever asked me for £200, I'd lock the cheeky buggers in the cellar and feed them to the crocodile. I believe in tough love.
