Another true cab-driver story from the South: Megan's brother lived in Charlotte for a year. A cab driver once told him about grits were made by boiling down the corn cob and then scraping off all the gritty stuff attached to the cob.
"Ah, so that's why they're called grits," her brother said.
"I don't follow," the cab driver said.
They're wise without the intention of being so, I suppose.
