So I've played a lot of scrabble recently, and after applying game theory to it, it becomes important to note that the length of the words and spatial density should be disproportionate to your lead, especially is the S's and Blanks are out.  For example. if the board is dense and you're got a 150 point lead, you should be more prone to cluttering ( Read more... )

I've always been intrigued by the strategy as well. It is just numbers, but sometimes the highest scoring word is the wrong choice because it will set someone up for a triple word score, etc.

The X factor is that you never know who's going to pull the Z or Q (or X or J) out of the bag. Those letters can make all the difference in the world--even if you strategy is crap.
