That is... just so damn disturbing I shudder just thinking about it. I mean a fertilised egg? Really?! Are these people seriously promoting the 'rights' of a single cell over the safety and well-being of a fully aware and developed human being? I just... words. Words fail me. It's times like this I drop to my knees and breathe a huge sigh of relief that we have the NHS which doesn't judge, doesn't give in and provides abortion/contraception/practical advice Britain-wide. I mean, the UK has its fair share of absolute nutters, but I couldn't ever see a proposal such as this getting very far. And if it did, quite frankly, I would move to elsewhere in Europe.

There are a lot of severely disturbed people running around in this country (and everywhere, really), and normally I'd feel badly for them - it's not their fault their brains are warped - but instead of trying to find help, talking to a therapist, getting on medication, whatever it is they need, they try to convince other people to be as disturbed as they are, and, unfortunately, it works. They try to force their views on others, and other people listen, with results like this. It is no one's business but mine what I do with my own body. But this goes beyond being anti-abortion, this is actually criminalizing a woman if she has a miscarriage. Not every woman is built to healthily carry a child, and there can always be extenuating circumstances. The woman might want the baby, and maybe she gets sick, or is in an accident, or who knows what, and miscarries - and according to these new laws these insane people are trying to get passed, that would make the would-be mother a murderer. I just don't even understand how twisted someone's ( ... )
