Nevertheless, I planted some broccoli raab and a few lettuces. I believe the timing was just right, though, for the planting of the scallions (one small but very dense patch) and the division of the chives (soon the planting strip will be 25% chives...). Last week I spread compost over the small bit of lawn we have left and reseeded it. In the berry patch under the cherry tree, I pulled out all the wandering strawberry babies, and about half of the beans. I think the beans may well be willing to continue production until the dreadful weather sets in (usually sometime in October) so I left a few of those behind. I have some bok choi started in pots to replace the tomatoes when they come out--also seeded last week.
