Apr 17, 2007 10:46

Characters: Naruto and Ayame
Location: Ichiraku!
Time: Evening
Summary: Naruto gets dinner after a long day of working of emo-boy (Sasuke’s) bike
Warnings: Naruto eating ramen? *giggles* (PS--starting to spam you with logs, sorry guys)

Naruto:
After spending the day ordering parts and beating out the frame of Sasuke's bike, Naruto happily flopped onto a seat at the bar of Ichiraku Ramen. He didn't bother looking at a menu, he'd been coming to the shop nearly daily since Iruka-sensei had brought him there the first time. Naruto was tired, and had barely managed to change out of his work clothes before heading out--he was still a little dirty, but had cleaned most of the dirt off his face and hands.

"Mmm, miso ramen please," he said, calling out his order in a flat, tired voice.

Ayame
Ayame had taken to studying at home and work since her last late night out, and had been hunched over a textbook when Naruto walked up. "Hey there" she said with a smile, moving to prepare the ramen, being sure to prepare more than enough. She wasn't sure if Naruto had ever had just one bowl.

Naruto:
"Ayame-neechan!" he said, smiling. "It's nice to see you, you know, the last time Iruka-sensei and I came, I didn't see you, or the old man, and Ichiraku just isn't right when you two aren't here." His tired look changed into a happy one, and he was happily grinning. Ayame-neechan was super cute and nice, and especially the kind of person he wanted to see after a day of fighting with Sasuke's bike (the $2000 Sasuke'd pay for repairs was going to be WELL earned, for a change).

Ayame
"I probably had to do something for school." she said thoughtfully. It was uncommon for their hired help to work a shift by themselves, though it had been happening more frequently since she'd started college.
Filling a bowl with his miso ramen, she set it in front of him with a wink. She could hardly remember the times before Naruto had visited Ichiraku. He'd been coming so frequently for so long, it was as if he'd always been there. The shop always seemed brighter with him around.

Naruto:
"Ahhh, thanks! Itadakimasu!" said Naruto brightly, almost as if the sight and smell of ramen had restored some part of him that had been missing because of work. (He blamed Sasuke, it was HIS bike causing the problems at any rate, it seemed fair).

Ayame
Ayame shook her head at him. It was amusing how he could be so energized by something as simple as ramen.

Naruto:
And yet, Naruto was. It was hard to believe there was a time in his life when he hadn't been eating the stuff--Not even Naruto could remember when (even though it couldn't have been more then five years ago) he hadn't eaten the stuff.

He slurped up the noodles greedily, making happy sounds as he did, as if it had been too long since his last bowl (no more then 24 hours had passed since he'd last been in the shop, for sure, but it always seemed longer to Naruto).

"Hey, neechan," said Naruto, thoughtfully, "You haven't seen that old pervert Jiraiya around, have you?"

Ayame
If he wasn't so energetic all the time, she'd be worried about his health. However, it was quite obvious he managed to get by just fine.

"Jiraiya-sama?" she repeated before shaking her head. "He hasn't been around for a long time." At least, never when she'd been working.

Naruto:
Naruto frowned. "That's just like him, the perv comes by, scolds me for blo--for reckless behavior, and then turns around and disappear!" Naruto drained the broth in his soup bowl. He sighed. "Can I get another bowl please?" he asked, smiling.
Ayame
"I'm sure he'll turn up sooner or later." she assured him, filling another bowl with miso ramen and handing it to him.

Naruto:
Naruto slurped up some noodles, and sighed. "That's the problem with that geezer. He always shows up when you don't want him to, then leaves when you actually needs him." Naruto sighed. "He comes and goes as he pleases, and that was fine when I was in high school, but now that I'm out, it would be nice to see him a little more regularly about . . . stuff."

Naruto stopped before he'd have to make up some kind of story. He told most people that Jiraiya was his mentor. The fact that Jiraiya had taught him to be a ninja was something he kept to himself, mostly.

Ayame
Ayame nodded as he spoke, resting an elbow on the counter she stood behind. "If he ever stops by, I can let him know you've been looking for him, if you want." she offered.

Naruto:
"Aww, thanks Ayame-neechan," said Naruto, giving her a large smile. "I appreciate that." He slurped up some more noodles, and sighed happily. "No one makes better ramen then you, neechan!"

Shaking her head, she smiled. "Its not trouble." she assured him, laughing at his compliment. "Better be careful, you don't want to offend tou-san." she winked at him.

Naruto:
Naruto grinned. "Well, he taught you everything you know, so he should be proud that you excel!" Lifting the bowl to his lips, he drained some of the broth, and smiled happily.

Ayame
"I'm sure he would be." she replied, watching him drain his second bowl. "More?" she offered.

Naruto:
"Hmm," said Naruto, thoughtfully. A third bowl would be good, but he'd have to make sure he ran longer tomorrow. And wouldn't his happiness be worth that third bowl?

Of COURSE it would.

"Yeah! just one more," he said, grinning.

Ayame
Nodding, she moved to the back of the stand, and dished up a third bowl of miso ramen before placing it in front of him. "On the house." It had been a slow night, and she was glad for the company.

Naruto:
"All right!" cried Naruto, happily. "That's the BEST news I've had all day! Thanks neechan! Itadakimasu!" Naruto cheerfully dug into the ramen.

Pausing for a moment, he looked up at Ayame curiously. "Ano, neechan, what are you reading?"

Ayame
"You're welcome." Ayame replied with a quick laugh. Naruto's energy was contagious.

"Hm, this?" she asked, holding up her management text, "Just school stuff."

Naruto:
"School? Are you in college?" he asked. Naruto had thought about it, but really, school had given him what he needed. The rest he'd learned at the garage he'd worked for before. Besides, he didn't really have the talent for learning from books. He wasn't stupid (despite what Sasuke would say), but it was harder for him to learn from words on a page then from what he could learn with his hands.

Ayame
She nodded. "Yep." She wasn't sure if helping run Ichiraku was helping her in her business classes, or if her business classes were helping her run Ichiraku. They seemed to help each other. Either way, things were fairly easy.

Naruto:
Naruto nodded, and quickly finished the third bowl. "Ahhh, thanks Ayame-neechan! That was great." He grinned, then sighed. "Unfortunately, I need to get home. There's something I want to do to the bastard's bike before I call it quits for the day."

Ayame
"Alright then," she said with a nod, clearing his bowls from the counter. "See you later, Naruto-kun."

Naruto:
"See you tomorrow!" he called, waving as he left the shop to head back home. He was looking forward to a shower to get all the hidden grime off of him. Stupid Sasuke and his bike.
