Who: Anko and Gai
What: Meet, race, sing karaoke, steal a videotape.
Where: Around the Konoha district
When: Uh, any day, evening sometime
Warnings: None, really.

Gai was in the middle of his nightly 100 mile run, when his stomach growled. Stopping and posing in the middle of the street he declared to the skies(and the frightened populace) " SILLY ME, I HAVE FORGOTTEN TO EAT DINNER!" Spying a stand that proclaimed that is sold "The best dango in Bijuu", he ran over like a shot and stood in line.

Anko had learned to tune out the sounds of the crowd long ago. If someone wanted to kill her, she figured they'd try to remain silent, and therefore paying attention to the obnoxious people woul do her little good, though she couldn't help but look at the man standing in line with a raised eyebrow. Ninja? Possibly. It was rare to find a civilian who would act like that.

She sat at a stool off to one side of the stand, a plate of dango in front of her, and a pile of empty skewers next to it, one sticking out of her mouth as she watched the man.

Gai smiled blindingly at the poor dango seller and ordered 10 sticks to the mans chagrin. Carrying the sticks to the side after thanking the man loudly,Gai stick the first one in his mouth happily.

Placing the skewer that was in her mouth down, Anko spun in her stool to face the man, confident he was a shinobi. "You know, for a ninja, you're kinda loud." (Some would argue it was the same for her, but that was beside the point.)

Gai looked up and grinned at the woman " AH! but how did you know I was a ninja?" He said, slipping into a disco like pose " And who might you be?"

"I have my ways." she siad with a shrug and a lopsided grin, taking a moment to decide what name to give him. Being in an open mood, she gave her real name. "Anko. You?"

Gai's pose shifted and he threw and arm into the air, hips cocked " I AM THE BEAUTIFUL GREEN BEAST, MAITO GAI!"

And people called her weird. "Nice to meet you." she said, turning back to her stack (tower) of dango.

Gai tilted his head to the side " May I join you? it is GOOD to get to know new people"
"Go for it." she offered, gesturing to one of the seats around her.

Gai plopped unceremoniously into the seat across from Anko and flashed her a wide grin. " Are the dango here always this good? I do not live around here"

She slid the contents of another skewer into her mouth and swallowed quickly before responding. "Yeah, best dango I've ever had." It was relatively cheap, too.

Gai followed suit and nodded appreciatively. "It is the best I have ever had..." He threw his arms into the air. " I believe I man have to come back! it is worth the fifty mile run!"

"Fifty miles?" she asked with a laugh. "Don't you own a car or something?"

Gai shook his head " I have a motorcycle but I have yet to modify it enough that I cannot outrun it, so I prefer my own two feet!"

She devoured another skewer quickly. "Why are you around here, then?" A fifty mile run wouldn't bring most somewhere without a damn good reason.

Gai finished chewing and swallowed with a blink " evening run, I was distracted and forgot to eat lunch and dinner so I stopped for food."

Anko laughed. "Eating is kind of hard to forget, isn't it?"

Gai smiled "Not if you are intensely focused on something!" He posed " If you give your all to what you do,then eating and sleeping become trivialities so the true hard part is learning to balance on the edge of concentration"

"Freelance." she muttered softly. She had yet to meet an affiliated ninja who acted so... openly, though there was a first time for everything. She cleared another skewer, having nothing (constructive) to say about his latest statement.

"Excuse me? " Gai asked, hearing the tail end of her muttered comment.

Anko looked up. "You're a freelance, aren't you?"

Gai nodded "osu" and tilted his head inquisitively "And you?"

She nodded back. "Yup."

Gai posed"Thought so! My new friend, would you like to come running later so we can exchange stories of YOUTHFULLY exciting missions?"

Anko considered the offer for a moment before smirking. "How about a race?"

Gai's eyes lit with an inner fire as he leapt to his feet. "YES! I accept that challenge!!! If I lose I shall do 1200 pushups!"

Laughing almost mockingly at him, she finished her last skewer of dango and stood as well. "Where to?" She was totally going to win.

Gai frowned, large eyebrows meeting in the center of his forehead " Where would you like it to end?"

She shrugged. "Doesn't matter to me. Suna border, maybe?"

Gai looked around and mentally calculated " That sounds like a good short race"he said with a nod " When shall we start?"

"Mmm, Now?" she half-asked, poised to leap off as soon as it was confirmed.

Gai shifted fluidly into a runners stance. " On three" he said. "One..two..." His leg muscles tensed as he readied to take off.

"Three." she finished confidently, launching herself in the direction of Suna.

Gai took off a step behind her and settled into a easy but fast run.

Maintaining the same pace as Gai, Anko kept an eye on him. They hadn't established any rules, and therefore everything was fair game.

Gai glanced at her, smiled and suddenly shot off in a blur as he stepped up his speed.

Lycaena Dispar (12:41:10 PM): Scowling, Anko sped up, doing her best to close the distance between them, though it did little good. Bust she wasn't going to let his speed stop her. She would use the lack of rules to her total advantage. Liking her idea, she slowed just slightly to let him put more distance between them. She didn't want him picking up on her ideas.

Gai rushed ahead not noticing Anko's falling behind as he lost himself in the joy of running.

Not stopping, Anko quickly began forming the appropriate hand seals for a teleportation jutsu.

Gai looked ahead at the rapidly approaching border and sped up.

Finishing, Anko poofed herself to the border, landing on a fence with a smirk.

Gai looked up just in enough time to see her poof in as he leapt to the fence. He grinned at her and bowed "I had not thought to place rules on the race so you have won fair and square, I shall remember in the future"

Anko allowed herself a small look of surprise as he came up to her. He was much faster than she'd expected. Hopping down, she stretched dramatically. Was he really planning on doing 1200 pushups?

Gai bowed to her and blinked as he noticed one of his leg warmers had ripped. He sat on the fence and took them off, removing the heavy wieghts under them to get at the sewing kit he stored in his sock. He dropped the wieghts to the ground, ignoring th fact that they plowed several feet into the hard earth below.

Anko's victorious grin quickly turned to something akin to shock as the ground shook with the weight. He'd been running wearing those? Wow.

Gai quickly sewed the ripped leg warmer and stuck the kit back in his sock before hopping lightly to the ground and securing the wieghts back around his ankles. he slid on the leg warmers and jumped up and down to dettle them on his leg before turning "I am sorry about that... these are my favorite pair and I do not like to see them remain ripped.

She shook her head. "How much do those weigh, exactly?" A kick from someone wearing those wouldn't be pleasent in the least.

Gai shrugged "1000 Kilos each I believe"

Anko let out a soft whistle.

Gai stretched " I used to increase the weight once a month but lately I find I can no longer adjust as I used to and moved to once every two months... I AM SADLY LEAVING THE SPRINGTIME OF YOUTH AND HEADING TO THE AUTUMN OF MY MATURITY" He sobbed dramatically.

"1000 kilos isn't heavy enough for you?" It seemed like overkill to Anko.

Gai looked up at her confusedly " I push myself to be the best that I can be and challenge myself so I remain as fit as I can.

Anko shook her head. He was crazy, she decided.

Gai smiled "Surely everyone strives to better themselves

"Be better, yeah, kill themselves, not so much." Being around people like this made her feel like a slacker.

Gai chuckled "It won't kill me...I know my own limits!" He stood and posed"BUt I live every day to push those limits!"

Anko laughed. He was a drama queen, she decided.

Gai laughed along with her, then smiled " Well since you won, should I buy you a drink?"

A part of her briefly -very briefly- considered saying no, but a free drink was a free drink, regardless of whether the buyer was there or not. Taking it, she grinned. "Sure."

Gai nodded and bowed "Shall we? He said and started towards the closest bar"

Nodding, She followed his lead, folding her hands behind her head as she walked.

Gai smiled and slipped in the door posing dramatically. the bar emptied at the sight of green spandex remembering the horrors of the last time. No one needs drunk naked Karaoke more then once in their life.

Had Anko been aware of such scenarios, she would have been more hesitant to accept him offer. At least, without a camera. Raising a brow at the avoidance of the other patrons, she looked around for an open table (not too difficult to find one now) and looked to him. "Have you been here before?" She was pretty sure she hadn't, though there was the occasional night she drank too much to remember anything.

Gai nodded " I run alot so I end up in different bars at times" He walked up to the bar and the poor barman stuttered "What would you like sir" Gai poses and said "Take the ladies order first"

Anko shrugged. "Something strong." She wasn't particular about her drinks. And she'd been surprised a fair number of times by what she'd recieved.

Gai nodded and the barman mixed something up for her, making gai the same.

Accepting the drink that was handed to her, Anko sipped it and winced before grinning. This was the strongest drink she'd had in a while. A while being a week or two.

Gai took his and drank some of his, ignoring the burn. " good?"

Anko nodded. "Very." She took another (much) longer gulp this time, leaving only a small bit of the drink in the glass.

Gai drained the rest of his glass and slammed it on the table "Ahhh... "

Finishing her own with a tiny sip, she licked her lips with a grin and gestured to the bartender for another one. She wasn't the one paying, after all.

Gai had another as well, and by his third was eyeing the karaoke stage where some drunk idiot was finishing " Billy jean"

Finishing her fourth while Gai was on his third, Anko saw what he was looking at and snickered quietly. Maybe tonight would be exciting, after all.

Gai did love to sing and it wouldn't take too much time... He wasn't that drunk and it would be fun. He looked at Anko and tilted his head "Excuse me... I believe i will go sing"

Laughing, she nodded, sending him an encouraging grin. "Have fun!" she offered, before leaning back and waiting for whatever would come.

Gai strode up to the karaoke stage and looked through the book, finally settling on one song. he stepped up to the mic and broke out with " Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurrn It Up

I think I'm burning up inside
I think I'll take a little ride
Gonna light up everything in sight
Yeah I'll drive on by your yard
And throw a Molotov cocktail at your car
Then another in the local bar"

Anko quickly started laughing at the show. The sheer energy Gai was putting into the performance was enough to make anyone crack up.

Gai continued the song with dramatic gestures, expressive eyebrows adding to the effect of his dance.

The show was amusing, to say the least, though the singing was... less than perfect, to put it lightly. Overall, she decided she liked it, if just for the fact he didn't seem at all embarrased by what he was doing (which even she would consider rather embarrasing.)

Gai finished the song with an energetic flourish then bowed before leaping from the stage and heading back to his seat, head held high.

Shaking her head, Anko watched him confidently approach her."Nice." she said when he was within ear-shot, grinning amusedly.

Gai posed " Thank you! " he ordered another drink and bobbed his head to the beat " Why don't you go up and try one?"

She ordered herself another drink as well. "I'm not drunk enough. Yet." she said, shaking her head with a laugh, downing the drink. Though it wouldn't be long at all until she was...

Gai chuckled " If you go up and sing one before you are 'drunk enough' I shall go and sing any song you choose no matter what it is" he gave her a thumbs up

Anko raised a brow. "Anything?" Well...

Gai nodded and posed "ANYTHING"

Considering the offer for a moment, Anko nodded. "Alright." she agreed, standing. This could be fun...

Gai gave her the nice guy pose again and watched her go up to the stage.

Strutting onto the stage, Anko flipped through the book, quickly finding something that seemed appropriate. A good song for dancing to, anyways.

"What's the time?
Well it's gotta be close to midnight.
My body's talking to me, it says "time for danger"
She began, smirking seductively.

Gai grinned broadly as he took another drink and watched, the song seemed familiar...where had he heard it before...

Continuing on, removing the microphone from the stand to give herself more freedom on stage. Might as well make it a show worth seeing, she reasoned with herself.

Gai sat back and watched clapping in time with the music as a few of the other patrons were doing. He blinked as a few started to wave dollar bills in the air.

The sight of money amused her, but she didn't actually take any. That would probably lead to her having to kick the ass of some civilian who couldn't understand 'no'. And then she'd have some explaining to do.

Gai wondered what the money was for, surely they werent trying to pay her to sing

Finishing the song, Anko bowed and walked confidently off the stage, paying little attention to the cat-calls she was receiving.

Gai clapped along with the rest and smiled at Anko as she returned "THAT was amazing! Why do you normally have to wait to be drunk to sing?"

Shrugging, she sat herself down, passing on another drink for the time being. "It's more fun that way." she explained.

Gai blinked "I don't get it..." He sipped his drink them posed "AH so what YOUTHFUL song should I sing!"

"You don't have to." It was apparant his level of intoxication didn't matter in public displays. Considering her options, Anko grinned as she thought of something. "Man, I Feel Like a Woman should be good." she said with a nod.

Gai blinked then posed "OSU!" Striding back to the stage he found the appropriate song and stood at the mic, hips tilted slightly into the hand he placed there.

"I'm going out tonight-I'm feelin' alright " he pitched his voice and took a step forward, flipping the ponytail that usually sat at the base of his neck over his shoulder"
Gonna let it all hang out
Wanna make some noise-really raise my voice
Yeah, I wanna scream and shout

No inhibitions-make no conditions
Get a little outta line
I ain't gonna act politically correct
I only wanna have a good time

The best thing about being a woman
Is the prerogative to have a little fun and...

Laughing as the man showed no resistance, Anko watched the performance and the reactions of the audience amusedly.

Gai decided it was better to have fun then be embarrassed and got into the song, hips rocking and shoulders rolling.

All the better for the crowd.

He finished the song with a wrist flip and very feminin pose that looked odd on him before heading back down to sit with Anko.

Applauding as he came back to her, Anko contemplated getting another shot, but decided against it. "Not bad." she told him, unable to get over how amusing the night had been so far.

Gai gave her an enthusiastic thumbs up "I have completed my side of the deal as promised!OSU!" He contemplated another drink but he did have to run home and running that many miles drunk would most likely be a bad idea...running through people was never good.

Laughing, she nodded. "That was well worth it." she agreed, only wishing she'd had some sort of camera for his performance.

Gai nodded " It was amusing.. I only wish I could have seen myself...perhaps I could get a copy from the security camera..."

"That it was." she agreed, glancing around to locate the cameras. They weren't in ideal locations, but there would probably be some decent footage.

Gai grinned broadly " I'll figure it out later"

"Have fun with that." She wouldn't mind having a copy for herself, either...

"ANYWAY I wonder if the proprietor would allow me one"

Anko shrugged. "Go ask. If not... well, you're not a ninja for nothing."

Gai frowed "I would prefer to take it honestly...though testing my skills would be..interesting"

"Try asking, then." she said simply, brushing a few loose strands of hair from her face.

Gai posed and headed to the back of the club to ask a bouncer where he could find the manager

Anko watched with amusement as Gai disspeared from sight, and waited patiently, tempted to get another drink while she waited.

Gai returned frowning "He said it was private property.

"So are you going to leave it, or take it?" if he didn't want to, she would.

Gai looked up and frowned then broke into a grin " I guess it isn't fair for him to keep it as it is footage of me"

Anko laughed. "I agree. Need any help?" Her slight intoxication would (hopefully) have little effect on her performance.

Gai thought for a moment "If you would like"

Alright." she said, "What do you need me to do?"

Gai frowned " I am not sure...perhaps one of us could distract those who watch the office while the other gets it?"

Grinning, she nodded. "I can be a good distraction." her earlier performance would probably gelp her case, too.

Gai nodded " If you would like " he said with a slight bow of his head "Then I shall get the tape'

"Great." And with that, she stood, heading over to the bouncers Gai had gone to just a few minutes earlier.

Gai casually bought another drink and moved to a pillar near the two guards.

Putting on a flirtatious grin, Anko stepped close to the two and sparked up a conversation, though it took a couple minutes to get them relaxed enough to talk openly. Throughout it, she was careful to use large hand motions, and continually managed to 'accidently' brush against them.

Once they were distracted Gai snuck past them and into the main building. He slipped into the office and looked for the camera that had the best view of the stage

Seeing Gai pass them, Anko continued her conversation with the two guards. She had to keep them distracted long enough for Gai to get back out. Running a hand along the arm of one of the guards, she leaned up and whispered something into his ear, winking when she pulled back.

Gai found the thing and ejected the tape, replacing it with a blank one from a tall box in the corner. He slid it into his jacket and slipped out again stepping into the bathroom and sticking his hands under the faucet before stolling out as if he'd been there the whole time

Seeing Gai return a mew moments later, Anko excused herself from the two and made her way back to her seat, sitting down shortly before her 'partner'.

Gai inclined his head towards her and smiled cheerfully

"Get it?" she asked casually, as if she was asking about the weather or something similar.

Gai nodded "Of course" He replied easily. It had been a simple operation after all

She grinned. "Can I get a copy?"

Gai nodded "Of course, I can have it done and you could pick it up or contact me on where to meet you"

"Sure. Got a number?"

"Sure!" Gai pulled a card out of his pocket and handed it to her. It had his usual contact information along with a large...tortoise?

Anko glanced over it quickly, laughing softly at the tortoise. "I'll give you a call, then."

Gai posed "OSU! I shall have the tape ready"

"Great." she said, stuffing it into her pocket. "I should get going. Thanks for the drinks."

Gai put out a hand and smiled broadly "It was my pleasure! It was nice meeting you"

Standing, Anko took his offered hand. "Yeah, you too."

Gai shook her hand firmly then waved and turned "I should be going now"

"See you around." she said, hanging around the club for a few more minutes before heading out.
