8D Hug your bedbugs!

Mar 18, 2007 21:50

Characters: Shino, Zetsu
Location: Outside of the Aburame hizzouse. On their property, thankyouverymuch.
Time: Evening, after Zetsu and Sasori do their bizzniz.
Summary: Zetsu tunnels like a badger. Shino does not appreciate.
Warnings: I'm not sure if there really are any. :U

Zetsu: Eventually, Zetsu would have to start doing things for Akatsuki. He expected infiltration and spy work, considering his abilities. So it was time to start mapping out Konoha District's underground. Some time in the near future he would make his way to the Suna and Oto districts, but tonight it was Konoha's turn.

His first priority had been to find the quickest ways to each member's home. But since he didn't know where any of them lived, it was kind of pointless. He would get Tobi right on that.

For a while he had been mapping out the subway and a good deal of its routes. Then he had gotten bored, circled under the city twice, and was now snooping around the outskirts.

Zetsu found a piece of property that was basically bare (good for practice tunneling) aside from the massive swarms of insects that buzzed around the surface.

And being Zetsu, he just wasn't happy if he didn't smite every last one of them for being there.

Shino: The bugs... weren't happy. When the bugs weren't happy, then neither were the Aburame. When considering the great deal of unhappy going around, it wasn't particularly surprising that Shino had been suckered into getting up from the dinner table to trudge out to see what the hell they were being so pissy about.

It was by unanimous vote, really, being that his Father didn't particularly want to move and Shino didn't want to tell his Father off.

Once he'd buttoned up his ridiculously tall collar and made his way out the door, it didn't take long to find Zetsu. Shino irritably waved a hand to disperse most of the bugs in the immediate vicinity (so he could see just who he was confronting), and frowned vaguely. "May I help you?"

Zetsu: Zetsu was still about thigh deep in the dirt when Shino interrupted his pathetic swatting. He waded out (just like someone would do in water) and stopped just a few feet away from Shino in the small space where the bugs were scarce amongst the swarm. "No, y usted? Necesitas ayuda?" The purple glow the twilight cast on everything made his smirk look more angry than provoking.

Shino: Shino stared, nonplussed. For a highly populated and urban city, it was still pretty uncommon to find people who spoke other languages. Or at least, other languages first.

He quirked an eyebrow, tempted to simply let the bugs in the area swarm in and finish the random intruder off, but he was no fool. The man's expression wasn't particularly comforting, and in Bijuushi it wasn't a great idea to attack without knowing what kind of strength you were up against, if you could avoid it.

His lips pressed together into a thin line, impatience hidden by his tall black collar and opaque sunglasses. "English would help."

Zetsu: He sighed, long and wispy, his superficial hopes of Shino speaking his language crushed. Just to be obnoxious, Zetsu felt he should continue with Spanish, but that wouldn't get them far. And he hoped faintly he could fight this person, and bury them alive in the place of Sasori. As he translated, Zetsu sank knee deep in the dirt and sidled closer. "No, I don't need help, do you?"

Shino: Shino's frown got slightly less subtle and he wondered long enough about the man's odd coloring to avoid the urge to deck him in the face. Certainly the idea of personal territory was not lost on him?

And anyway, if this guy'd been in the area for long he should know that ticking off an Aburame when surrounded by bugs was about as smart as sucker punching an Inuzuka in the middle of a dog kennel. Or Sabaku no Gaara on the beach.

"I need you to get off my property," he said, blandly despite the confrontational nature of his words. "You're bothering the insects."

Zetsu: Yes, Zetsu hadn't been in the area for too long and was not well versed with the locals and what they were capable of. Even if he was, though, he was too impulsive and inconsiderate to know or care how to act around them. "You don't own what's under your land." And at that he sank lower, and parted a hole around his legs with his hands as if he were peeling away a plastic covering.

Shino: Shino gritted his teeth. Humans were... needlessly frustrating.

"Well, you're defacing the surface," he pointed out, logically, despite a willingness to disagree with the statement. There were so many bugs that made their living beneath the ground, and Shino wasn't particularly keen on letting Zetsu trample all over them.

He took a step forward, and the veritable wall of insects that had just been milling around began to close in and squeeze their clear pocket of space as a warning. "Go burrow somewhere else."

Zetsu: "No," Zetsu said, substantially offended as it appeared he had just been affronted. The bugs, however, didn't alert him of Shino's warning as he had hardly noticed the sudden crowding. Being claustrophobic with Zetsu's kind of bloodline limit was just ridiculous. "I do not burrow. I'm not a badger. And apart from that, this piece of land is relatively free of unnecessary pipes."

Shino: Shino's eyes narrowed, and his brows furrowed to a vaguely offended sort of an expression. It was more than he'd usually betray, but the situation only seemed to be getting more annoying by the second. Who was this man?

"That's because we keep it that way for the insects that live down there."

Kikai pushed against the skin of his arms, anxious to get out of his body and taste exotic chakra. He stilled them until he was sure Zetsu wouldn't go away on his own; despite a considerable amount of battle prowess, Shino still specialized in recon.

Zetsu: That flare of chakra from the insects inside of Shino was suspicious, and just a little startling because Zetsu didn't know exactly what it was. He thought the bugs were just on the outside.

"I didn't see too many down there. I don't suppose they tunnel?"

He tested the waters carefully. If they tunneled, he wouldn't attack and would be extra wary of this area. But if they didn't, it wouldn't be too hard to pull Shino down.

Shino: Shino blinks, and his brows arch slightly in puzzlement. He hasn't quite been able to figure out yet why there is a man knee-deep in Aburame clan property, but he seems ridiculously unaware of the situation. Admittedly, Shino isn't much better off.

"Some do," he answers warily, and doesn't disclose the fact that most of them are ridiculously small and slow. Dirt beneath the city is no supple farm soil, so insects underground in Bijuushi are slim pickings. There are always your garden-variety earthworms maggots and the like, but if Shino has any sort of choice he's going to do battle with a less humble species of bug.

(He wonders how many obscure jungle diseases his collection of mosquitoes will have to infect Zetsu with before he can get the man to go away.)

Zetsu: "Oh," Zetsu said and frowned. "Oh well."

But his frown was just as fleeting as he was and he had quickly vanished. The pit he was standing in was bare. Seconds later, his fingertips grazed the soles of Shino's shoes and a pair of discolored hands extended from the soil and grabbed at his ankles.

Shino: Shino's attention snapped down as quickly as it could when so disoriented, and before he could figure out what Zetsu's next move would be, there was a set of 10 oddly colored fingers wrapped around his ankles.

Chakra, hampered by the kikai in his legs, slammed to the soles of his feet in an attempt aid a to leap in any direction that would get him away from those hands... but it wasn't fast enough. Shino fought the urge to swear; it was all he could do to not topple over, unbalanced.

All of the insects in the area swooped down upon his feet, funneling into the space like Zetsu's disembodied hands were a powerful vacuum. The sort of panicked adrenaline rush that went with being so suddenly surprised was heady, but Shino breathed in sharply to avoid making any undignified noise (a yelp, or a shout).

Most people would let go when it registered that their hands were crawling with chakra devouring insects; hopefully (for Shino) Zetsu was 'most people.'

Zetsu: ‘Most people' weren't offered Akatsuki membership, so Zetsu held fast and gradually started pulling Shino under. His wrists and hands were exposed to the bugs, and every inch was covered. It took a generous amount of chakra to ‘bury' someone Zetsu-style, and the combined insects sucking at his chakra and gnawing on his skin was taking its toll and he barely got Shino shin deep before he let go and his hands withdrew. Still, even though it would take Shino a while to get out from this position, Zetsu wasn't satisfied.

Shino: Shino had to bend over to push his palms against the ground, an attempt at helping himself balance while tugging at his trapped legs. What the hell was that, even? It was different than the standard Groundhog decapitation techniques.

Less pleasant, he'd venture.

The kikai inside his legs began filtering out, pressing against the dirt on all sides of his buried feet. He was trying to push the ground away from his ankles with the added mass of insect bodies, instead of tugging them free until his skin was raw. He watched the ground around himself warily for any signs of Zetsu while worrying over his legs, now that he did not have physical confirmation of the man's whereabouts beneath the earth.

Zetsu: Despite his dissatisfaction, Zetsu was helpless. Anywhere he touched Shino his skin would be ripped apart by these chakra eating bugs he seemed to have control over. And even if he wanted to touch him, his hands were so badly torn up it would be more trouble than it worth. So he escaped by to his part of town, leaving Shino and his army to dig up his legs.
