Characters: Naruto, Sasuke
Location: Some border of Oto
Time: Midday, before the Sasuke/Itachi meeting.
Summary: They fight. They always fight. This was a 'friendly' match.
Warnings: Guess what?! VIOLENCE. Bet you didn't see that coming!

It was about eleven fifty-five, and Naruto was five minutes early, meeting Sasuke. The border of Oto was fairly large, but he knew the spot that Sasuke had been refering to. He got out of his car, and headed to the top of a nearby building--something about Sasuke screamed drama whore and what was more dramatic then a fight on a rooftop?

Besides, Naruto didn't want to ruin his car in a fight that was for the sake of fighting.

So he waited, crouched on the rooftop, back against a wall, senses keen on picking up the slightest movement that might have been Sasuke.

The revving of the engine slowed, quietened, and the miniscule crunch of pebbles under a sandaled foot as Naruto's opponent stepped off his motorbike, pulling off a gleaming black helmet to look around.

Nothing.

Sighing, Sasuke looked up at the buildings, spotting a shadow blinded by the midday sunlight- the wall of a penthouse. He rolled his eyes- the idiot would be late.

Naruto heard the engine die--a sound that was quiet, but he was a mechanic, and he was familiar with the machine, he knew that it was Sasuke's; he'd been waiting for it. Naruto headed to the lip of the roof, and peered over, his unmistakable grin forming as he saw the black haired bastard he was fighting standing down there, looking dumb.

"Oi! Sasuke! You're late!"

Looking up, Sasuke easily ran up to the rooftop, footfalls silent even at the speed he was moving. This was a first- Sasuke usually made it before Naruto (pointedly, mentally, he was blaming this all on his so called 'roommates') to their... meetings.

"Actually, idiot, you're early," he stated as he reached the top, looking to the sun.

"Yeah, well, if I'm early, that makes you late," said Naruto, still grinning. He cracked his knuckles, excited, feeling the adrenaline pump through him like a drug. Sasuke was the only opponent who ever gave him a good work out--even his old master was starting to get a little slow (Jiraiya was still able to kick his ass, but it was a long, dragged out fight). Sasuke. . . fighting with Sasuke kept him on his toes.

"Whatever." Did it really matter? Sasuke dropped into a fighting stance, eyes remaining black for the moment (on one level he knew he'd need them crimson at a moment's notice, but he wasn't that wary yet).

"Come on, Naruto."

Naruto's grin turned from friendly to fighting as he assumed a fighting stance. Naruto never really looked too dangerous, but most opponents knew better then that. His stance was never intimidating, but he made up for that when fighting.

First rule--Never underestimate your oppenent. (Somehow, when fighting with Sasuke, he always forgot it)

By nature, Sasuke always considered himself superior to others, and Naruto was no exception (he was loath to admit that Naruto was actually a challenging opponent). He didn't smile, didn't frown, merely kept his face blank as he lunged forward, aiming a kick to Naruto's midsection.

Naruto waited until Sasuke's foot almost hit him before moving out of the way, and pushed Sasuke out of the way. He was going to play around a bit, if he could, until Sasuke got serious.

It wasn't fun until he got serious.

"Come on, Sasuke. You can do better then that!" he said, mocking the other, taunting him.

A mere lift of a precise black brow as the push was easily recovered from, Sasuke moved forward again, ebony hair breezed back slightly as he attempted to attack Naruto with a quick spinning kick combination aimed to both high and low. This wasn't serious yet- it wasn't going to be serious until it was necessary, Naruto wasn't worth it.

Naruto gritted his teeth and blocked the kick, lunging forward with his own punch. He could tell Sasuke was holding back, which infuriated him--he knew Sasuke didn't see him as a worthy opponent, or a worthwhile one, let alone any kind of threat. Naruto wanted to be recognised, wanted Sasuke to recognise his prowress as a shinobi, and he knew it was something he wouldn't get.

Naruto was no genius child of a great clan, but he would make a name for himself. And then everyone would recognise his greatness.

Sasuke stubbornly denied Naruto's progression because... well, it was Naruto, and Naruto was an idiot who would never progress anywhere. It took a quick flick of his arm to block the punch and he gripped at Naruto's arm. The lock was immediately followed by pulling a kunai out, aiming it to Naruto's neck at a non-fatal pressure. He wanted this to be harder, but at the same time he deplored the idea of Naruto being able to match him.

As the kunai pressed against his neck, he grinned, and the bunshin popped and dissappeared. The real Naruto appeared to Sasuke's side with a strong kick to the other's midsection. Getting there early and waiting for Sasuke had given Naruto the time he needed to make the clone and hide. He'd been worried that the clone would have dissappated before when he allowed the kick to land, but it hadn't, allowing Naruto to get this one perfect shot in.

Maybe now Sasuke would take him seriously.

The kick succeeded and the stumble, the accident, forced Sasuke to turn his eyes red. Damned Bunshin and Naruto- he was so predictable with that technique that it was humiliating that Sasuke didn't see it coming.

Spinning quickly, Sasuke's now red eyes faced on his 'new' opponent and he spun the kunai around his finger as he attacked the blond with the weapon, tomoe spinning slowly.

Yes--that, THAT was what Naruto wanted. The glowing red eyes that spun, focusing on him. It meant that Sasuke was serious now, and would no longer hold back.

On the defensive, Naruto withdrew his own kunai from his pouch, barely blocking the Uchiha's own as he came crashing against him, gritting his teeth in a feral smile, feeling a little of the sinister, darker chakra inside welling up. He forced it down--Sasuke had turned serious but the fight wasn't nearly that serious.

Yet.

Eyes following every movement, Sasuke found it easy to move against Naruto, pace quickening slightly as he pulled out a second kunai. The metal glinted in the midday sun as he twisted backwards, aiming the weapons to Naruto's torso. Heat strong and outfit slightly suffocating, it internally took more effort than usually necessary to attack but Sasuke showed nothing other than a slight sheen of sweat against his brow.

Naruto pulled away too slowly, and the second kunai tore his jacket. Snarling, Naruto caught Sasuke's wrist and pushed back, as that thing inside him teased him, promising more power. (It usually was silent, but never when he was around Sasuke, something about strong emotions made it stir.)

"You're sweating," he said through gritted teeth. "I didn't think it was that much of a hassle for you."

With a successive movement, Sasuke flicked his fingers into seals, attacking the other with a chakra burst.

"You're not a hassle, the heat is," he growled as he dived forward with the attack, sending a punch to the tear in the jacket.

At the sight of the seals, Naruto jumped back, and formed his own. "Kagebunshin no jutsu!" Three clones formed, spreading out around him, and fanning out. He was hoping to distract Sasuke with the clones. They may have been his signature move, and most well known and predictable, but they were useful.

"Sure, blame the heat!" he yelled, feeling adrenaline pump through him. (He could hear its whispers louder now.)

Sasuke knew that this was Naruto's skill- using Kage Bunshin effectively. Short of destroying every one, he had no way of finding the original. He growled to himself and eyed the location of each one- he could catch them with a quick burst of speed and moved across the side of the penthouse, aiming for the first clone with the slowly depleting chakra shot.

The first clone dissipated with the attack, leaving nothing but smoke in it's wake. From behind, another Naruto came running towards Sasuke, kunai in his hand.

Behind that Naruto, the other two were forming a familiar ball of blue chakra--rasengan.

Twisting himself around at a telltale sound, Sasuke was impressed by the jutsu (though show it he didn't) and destroyed the chakra consuming attack, pulling out a handful of shuriken which he threw at the three as he hopped back from the clones, flipping himself onto the roof of the penthouse as he did so.

The foremost clone blocked the shuriken that couldn't be dodged, and Naruto watched as Sasuke flipped himself onto the roof, jutsu complete. With the swirling blue sphere in his hand, Naruto kept the remaining clone nearby, and jumped up towards Sasuke, his hand thrust forward with his attack.

A moment was taken before kusunagi was withdrawn and Sasuke moved quickly, speed higher than before as he sidestepped with the blade aimed to Naruto's legs. There was nothing about method here. Madness... there was plenty.

Naruto was, or could be, rather intelligent when he fought, but when it came to Sasuke, thinking wasn't apart of the equation. There was a pop as the other clone disappeared, and Naruto could feel that thing inside clamouring for attention. (he ignored it)

Avoiding the sword, Naruto circled around, determined to get a clean shot against Sasuke.

The most important thing right now was to avoid that attack and Sasuke dropped from the penthouse roof to the main roof, smirking at Naruto. "Come and get me Naruto, or are you too slow?" He taunted, sheathing his sword.

Naruto jumped after Sasuke, snarling, running for him, not yet ready to release the rasengan in his hand. He wanted to punch Sasuke through the wall with it--or just punch him through the wall, period.

He didn't respond to the taunting, just moved faster.

Sasuke smirked, leading Naruto towards a wall with consistent dodging. Naruto wasting chakra and getting an injury from running into a brick wall would be nothing but advantageous and he wouldn't give in to taunting. He was too good to fall for that.

Frustrated, Naruto let the Rasengan disperse and picked up his speed again, starting to match Sasuke's at some points (it was erratic, at best--Naruto had more stamina but wasn't nearly as speedy as Sasuke). He kept throwing punches at Sasuke, hoping to make him fall into a rhythm of dodging.

Dodge, block, attack, attack, dodge. The movements were repeated and shook up as Sasuke moved against Naruto before he flickered out, appearing behind Naruto with a sudden kick aimed to the blond's lower back.

Naruto wasn't prepared for that, and fell down to the ground. He put up he hands to keep himself from completely falling over, scraping them up in the process.

That wasn't exactly how he'd planned that to go.

Sasuke stopped when Naruto fell. He was clear-headed enough to remember it was not a serious fight and his hand rested on his hip as he waited for the other to stand up, looking down with a superior smirk.

Naruto got back up to his feet and turned to look at Sasuke. "Is that all you've got, princess?" he asked, smirking.

Sasuke made a small noise before attacking Naruto again, pulling out kusunagi as he darted forward, aiming it to slash diagonally across Naruto's chest, soundless to the taunting.

Quickly stepping out of the way, Naruto created three more kage bunshin clones, and again surrounded Sasuke, this time, using the clones to quickly close in on him. Pulling out a kunai, Naruto made to grab Sasuke from behind and press the cool steel of the weapon against Sasuke's neck as a clone raced towards them to attack.

Sasuke allowed himself to be caught, the steel shocking his pale skin in an oddly good way. He bent his wrist slightly to aim the sword forward before twisting sharply in Naruto's grip, kicking one leg out behind him.

Naruto managed to stay standing and keep his grip On Sasuke, holding onto him, tightly. The clone barely dodged the extended sword, and spun out of the way. Another clone came in from the side, hand chopping across Sasuke's sword arm.

Sasuke barely managed to pull back from the hit, making it less extensive damage and he dropped the sword to form the seals for one of his master's signature jutsus.

Snakes shot from his hand, aiming towards the clones and one moved towards the Naruto holding him- every one controlled by chakra.

"Shit," he muttered, jumping back from the snakes. "You're as fucked up as that bastard you work for!" he said, cutting down a snake with his kunai. "Cheating with snakes!" The clones cut down their snakes, with the exception of one that poofed out of existence.

Sending chakra to his feet for added speed, he ran towards Sasuke, aiming to hit him square in the jaw.

The snakes disappeared as soon as they were struck, but he'd accomplished his goal, getting free. Smirking, he waited for Naruto to come within range, sidestepping and holding his hand out to grasp the blond's wrist- aiming to use the momentum against him.

When Sasuke caught his hand, Naruto swung the other around, trying with another hand to punch Sasuke. He would land this blow, he would!

Sasuke blocked the second punch with his other arm, stopping them both dead before he stared at Naruto with spinning red eyes, genjutsu imminent.

Naruto knew what that meant, and squeezed his eyes shut, remembering everything Jiraiya had told him about the sharingan that he had known. (The old man was crazy, but he knew his stuff.) It was dangerous enough to close his eyes around Sasuke, but it was more dangerous to get sucked into those eyes.

Dropping his block, Sasuke turned it into a jab punch aimed at the lower midsection as his eyes returned to a still state. Naruto's reaction... well, either way it helped Sasuke, as he kept his grip on Naruto's arm.

The wind was knocked out of Naruto as Sasuke punched him, and he keeled over against him as the punch landed soundly against him. He chuckled a little as he looked up to see the face of one of his clones sending a solid foot into Sasuke's side.

Damn. There wasn't time to move from the clone and Sasuke let the kick connect to his side, being pushed back from the lock with Naruto as he winced slightly, keeping any other reaction bottled up before he stood again, panting slightly.

Naruto stood, grinning at Sasuke. Both actually, the clone and the original. The other two waiting to the side--Naruto was up for more if Sasuke was, but this wasn't a fight to the death, just a good natured fight between rivals. Though he looked completely unaware of anything, he was keenly aware of Sasuke and what he was doing.

If he moved to attack, Naruto would be in action.

Sasuke's face never twitched once as red eyes stared at that grin. A few moments passed before Sasuke's fingers went into action, creating seals that Naruto had seen a thousand times before- that jutsu, the familiar, famous jutsu of the Uchiha clan.
The fire blazed from Sasuke's mouth, blown towards Naruto and his clones. Death wasn't intended- Sasuke knew the power of that jutsu well enough.

Ohhhhh, he had to use that. That. The famous katon from the Uchiha clan (he'd heard about it from Jiraiya after a particularly nasty fight with Sasuke when they were younger). He dodged it, but lost two of his clones in the process. There was one left, hiding and waiting.

"Still have fight in you yet, huh princess?" shouted Naruto.

Using his speed (of course Sasuke still had fight in him- he faced opponents he considered tougher than Naruto daily). Sasuke moved to another part of the roof before sending out a second wave of snakes from his hand, sent to lasso Naruto and pull him in.

"Plenty," he replied darkly.

Naruto saw the snakes and tried to move out of their way. But the snakes moved with him, changed their direction slightly to catch him. Naruto swore as he was pulled towards Sasuke--how had it come to this? (He was better! He knew it!)

Now Sasuke had Naruto close to him, he smirked. One of the snakes bit down where it was and he tugged the blond a little closer to hiss "pathetic..." into his ear before releasing him, throwing him away by using the snakes.

"Asshole!" Naruto cried as he fell to the ground, released by the snakes. He wasn't concerned about the bite (it would heal, and he was fairly certain these snakes didn't have venom), but his pride. . . .

Naruto was pissed now, and got up ad charged Sasuke with a speed that was. . .different from before. (Sasuke would have noticed the strange, orange-ish red glint in his eyes)

Sasuke laughed. This was what he was waiting for- the slight change in Naruto's demeanour and he crouched, ready to intercept the attack, ready to win. He should win; he was the best, after all.

Naruto was dangerous like this--when that power inside took over, even just a little, it made Naruto unstable and dangerous. But at least at this stage, he could control it.

He lunged for Sasuke, fingers extended and looking more like claws then hands as they reached for Sasuke with an alarming speed, intent on ripping through fabric and reaching skin.

The claws found their mark and Sasuke winced slightly as he looked to see a pearl of blood glisten against his arm. He used his leg to aim a swift kick to Naruto's calves, trying to unbalance him as he pulled his arm back, causing the mark to deepen slightly.

The claw-like hands dug deeper into Sasuke's skin, and his footing held; like this, Naruto was stronger, his footing more secure and solid. There was less hesitation as well, and a strength. . .

"I am not pathetic," he snarled, voice rough and feral like something not entirely human lurking under there. He shoved Sasuke aside, lips pulled back in a smirk that showed more sharpened teeth then natural for the young man.

There was no indication of pain other than the brief intake of breath and Sasuke hit the wall as he was pushed aside, losing some breath as he leant against it heavily, looking up at Naruto. He smirked dangerously through red eyes as chirping began to fill the air.

He didn't need the clone so much in this state, but it came anyway, and together they formed the ball of blue light again, rasengan. There was something different (darker? hotter?) about the chakra now, something that was very different from before.

His eyes still had that orange-ish tint to them, but it seemed controlled, for the moment. Like a controlled walk along the edge of a blade, anything could change.

Rasengan formed, the ball of swirling blue chakra in his hand, the last clone dissappeared, and Naruto waited, posed and ready to fave this attack.

Red eyes focused on the swirling chakra as Sasuke jumped back. He needed the rush- the rush to Naruto, to the attack, the feel of drilling a hole into a long time rival was a rush.

A momentary pause as he watched the other, prepared for the movements Naruto would make with the blue ball of chakra as he dashed forward with the chirping, deafening birds of Chidori.

Shoot to kill. Always to kill.

Later, Naruto would wonder when he decided to ignore the fact that this was just supposed to be a friendly fight. Of course, between himself and Sasuke, even deadly wasn't that fatal (words that would be nonsensical away from this fight).

Naruto watched Sasuke, the standoff cold and calculated, adrenaline filling his veins. The moment there was movement, he knew they would be blurs in the sky, and somewhere, deep down, he knew that a building might get destroyed.

These things tended to happen when they fought.

The idea of conflict, of ensuring the safety of things during conflict rarely came to be a cause of concern for Sasuke. The building could blow up for all he cared- scenery wasn't remembered at the moment as he continued to aim for Naruto with the electric chakra.

Friendly fights- that was an oxymoron.

Naruto began moving in an arc, circling Sasuke, trying to provoke the attack. There was only so long he could stand still and wait for the other to move, to attack.

This was his way of trying and making Sasuke do something.

As the chakra intensified in his hand, Sasuke aimed for Naruto's chest with it, eyes narrowed and whirling madly. His lips curled into a smirk as he aimed for clothes and preferably skin and organs.

Naruto's own mouth twisted into a terrible grin that held no joy, just some wild, animalistic look. He charged Sasuke, intending not to kill the other with the attack but to greet chidori with a rasengan handshake.

Sasuke's arm tried to dodge the swirling block but it was too late to do so- short of allowing his arm to be blown off by rasengan. He growled as the two attacks clashed, chakra causing a huge glowing mass of wind and storm and destruction, everything being blown back by the mass of chakra.

The impact of wind and lightening meeting was always destructive, always dangerous and explosive. The building was a lost cause, and later, when he remembered to look it up, Naruto was glad to know that it was abandoned. At this moment, however, the force of the impact of the two jutsu meeting flung Naruto back as it exploded in a blast of blinding light.

He'd lost consciousness briefly, but only for a moment--when he came to, his body was nothing but pain in a hole created in another building.

As the smoke cleared, and Naruto looked to the other side for Sasuke, all he could think about was the lecture he would get from Jiraiya on thier next meeting. . .

The damage was extensive, and when Sasuke opened his eyes, thrown and slouched against a tree, he could see clear across the street- or at least, would once the smoke cleared.

There were smarter things he could have done. He was already prepared for what he'd be told by whomever saw him next- whether it was Kabuto or Kimimaro or the elusive Orochimaru. They'd all say the same thing.

Coughing slightly in the clearing smoke, he slowly propped himself up with the tree, standing.

Naruro got out of the whole in the building, that other chakra back to it's sleeping place within him. He looked across the slowly clearing dust and debris. "OI! YOU STILL ALIVE, YA BASTARD?" Naruto hurt, yeah, but nothing that wouldn't heal quickly. The plus side to having a demon inside, he supposed.

The ever so dulcet tones of Naruto came through to Sasuke and he groaned. Damned Naruto.

Coughing still, he moved towards the debris and Naruto. "Yes, dobe."

Naruto laughed, even beat up and bruised, he still found this extremely amusing--who wouldn't? (Sasuke, obviously.) "Good!" said Naruto, nimbly making his way to Sasuke. The wail of a siren could be heard in the distance.

That happened when you destroyed buildings.

"Ahh, looks like we'll have to postpone the insults and name calling of this encounter, teme," Naruto replied. "I don't think either of us really want to deal with our masters if we had trouble with the police."

Sasuke rolled his eyes and looked to the direction the sirens were coming from. Damn, they were speeding today. He made a small noise, a 'tch,' and waved to Naruto as he turned his back- going back to his bike to get away from the scene. The police was one thing they didn't need today.

It seemed an anticlimactic way to end the fight, but Naruto jogged (painfully, goddamn he hurt but those cops really WERE speeding today) to his car, getting in it and rather pleased that the engine started easily. He'd give it the once over when he got back to the shop, just to make sure.

Sasuke's Ducati pulled away within seconds as the sirens continued to get louder- fading under the roar of his engine and the distance he managed to get thanks to chakra- just enough... just enough.

Horrible end to a fight. Damned police.
