Oh... oh, that was amazing. I love the overall message of it and the way you ended it, and the choice of different realities is great. I actually really admire you for starting with quite a banal scenario - it contrasts so well to everything else and just makes their friendship seem so real. Awesome work!

Oh this is just lovely... and you do your inspiration justice with it. The snippets of reality enhanced by the subtle emotional connection budding between the two and how each story brings them closer to understanding the other.

And combat boots at the start but everything ends with L and Mello realizing well he'd rather just fill his own "boots" and his own person wants Matt around, like always and the story's just begun because with Matt he is just himself. No more living someone else's life.

I have a huge thing for AUs, despite what people say about them, but I can never decide on a specific one when I want to write. So, I cram them all together. Problem solved.

As much as I don't always care about these characters, they make for some pretty fucking amazing fanfiction. I was actually fighting back tears at the end, for some reason the idea of Mello actually achieving his goal and not really knowing where to go from there, and Matt knowing what Mello needs to do better than he does, that was just ridiculously touching. And the sci-fi one was fucking badass. The whole thing was great--I'm really glad you guys managed to finish, I love this concept too much for it not to have been written. Great job! ♥

Ha, yeah, I know these two aren't always your favorites, so I put in a little Mikami cameo... and then I end up shooting him, fuck D: Mello at the end was something I always wondered about. If he did win, did he seriously want to be L? If so, is he going to just sit there all day like Near and L do, with Roger as his Watari? How incredibly bored would he be, seriously?

I really liked the sci-fi one too. <.<; I've always wanted to write something like it.
