Yep you can get it back - the tax year starts/ends on 5th April and you should get a P60 (?) which summarizes all the tax you've paid that year through the employer (PAYE). Or a P45 which does that earlier if you leave the job.
Strictly speaking if you've had foreign income and stuff or your resident nonresident status is complicated, you should file a self assessment tax return in April which'll let you get a refund if appropriate
but you can probably get away with just filling out this simpler form (I forget what it's called, have to go on the tax website) for refund of excessive tax paid on PAYE
