Generalizing.. Oh well, ich bin gar nicht einverstanden, da es so viele verschiedene Menschen im beiden Laendern gibt.

That's a good article. I like this quote from it:

One is free by becoming self-reliant and an island unto oneself.

It's very true, at least in the U.S.A. It's probably true in a lot of third world countries where the people don't have a government to rely on for their well-being in times of trouble or misfortune. I honestly think the way of the future is going to go more toward the "European Dream" and I hope that America doesn't miss out on it. It certainly seems like a much better way of life than what we have in the U.S.A.
