I read your link and appreciate some of Mr. Leonardi's sentiments, especially that the reality of war is horrifying enough, thus there is no reason to exaggerate the true stories of how soldiers were killed or injured.
However, separating the propaganda from its purpose, ie, not acknowledging that these false stories play a roll in creating sympathy for the war a la Wag the Dog, seems naive to me. IMHO, if we *really* cared about soliders lives, we wouldn't have gone to war over false-pretenses in the first place.
