Daughters of Union Vetrans of the Civil War

Today I went to the Dec meeting of the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War. It was a luncheon at a private home. I had no idea that Uncle John and Aunt Dorothy are in a nursing home. Or that Aunt Frances, is well...damn.

It really is just down to three now, isn't it? Now even I am starting to feel old.

It seems that Alzheimer's has claimed most of Dad's family and I am willing to bet that Dad's biggest fear is that it will happen to him. And then who will protect you? He is absolutely devoted to you in a way that is so rare in this world. He adores you--he just has trouble showing emotions, but I guess you know that. So let him be a humbug. He has dedicated his life to you. And I can help decorate the house for you. I'm more "girly" than he is. And how can someone who is red-green colorblind decorate for Christmas properly anyway? (smile)

Corey is the same way about holidays. I guess it's true that you marry someone like your parents. I could do worse!
