i don't know if pruning is the right thing..but it mustbe hard to see your beliefs critricized in a constant stream of posts.. maybe you could ask your friends listpeeps to please put an lj-cut on thier politics stuff.. then if people want to read it..they can..but you wont have to if you don't want to.
Maybe skip reading the posts by people you know will post something you don't want to read? At least that's what I do at times. And it's at this point a mini-obsession give it about a week and few people will talk about it, like every other thing that happens.
These are the reasons I keep all my political stuff off of the internet :P (It caused too much issues at home so I never talk about it anymore unless I'm sure people have the same views as me) We all have our own beliefs and people shouldn't have the name calling towards them for doing what they believe is right. It goes along with generalizations : P People in my family voted for Bush and they as well are good people, they don't deserve to be thrown in with the name calling, but that's easy for people since they may not know that much of the minority or their reasons for voting.
just ignore it hun. don't feel like you're beliefs are being attacked! it's the beauty of America, being able to voice things of this nature. true, i did vote for kerry, but my opinions are my own, and i've taken a lot of gump from bush supporters i'm friends with too, lol. just take it with a grain of salt and skip them.
Yeah, CJ. Please don't prune. I mean, it's all just opinion. Sure, I may have voted for Kerry and whatnot, but I'm not about to get all gung ho on you because you support Bush. I mean, we're human...we're supposed to have our own beliefs, and in this country you're more than welcome to do that. Some of our beliefs may be different, but that doesn't mean I don't like you. Just ask your friends to post potentially harassing posts in cuts, so you can read the stuff you want and skip the stuff that will just make you angry.
I would, dearie... things like this aren't worth de-friending people. It was an election, and ya gotta take for granted that people will be upset on both sides of the line. But, as they say, "this too shall pass".
