What's your criteria for being able to check off a state? Does it count if you've just driven through it without stopping?

I'm inclined to think you should have at least stepped foot on the land...so, if you pulled over to get gas, and experienced at least the humidity factor.... or perhaps...just being in the state in some capacity that you can comment on it during a conversation...maybe that would fly...hmm...i guess i could go either way...
