Yesterday I butchered two turkeys. I thanked them for giving up their lives so that we may live before removing their heads with a sharpened hatchet. Knife work and a huge amount plucking followed.

Since I did the chopping myself, I obviously couldn't take a photo. Here they are after the chopping:
Another, closer shot. They probably each weighed about 25 lbs.
I let them bleed out for about 30 minutes before I started plucking:
The big one finished off at 19 lbs., while the smaller one finished off at 15 lbs. It was a hell of a lot of work, but totally satisfying.
