Later:

Rob: We already have a Joule. We could do units of energy. Erg. What's the English unit of energy?

Actually I kinda think "foot pound" is a hilarious name for a kitten. :

Yeah, we were thinking that was just about as "appropriate" as slug, the English unit of mass. Bad vet student! Encouraging kitten abuse! Bad! Bad!

Is "Foot Pound" better or worse than "Horsepower Hour"?

There are many possibilities at Wikipedia, such as "Gram of TNT", "Kilocalorie", "Electron Volt", "Barrel of Oil Equivalent", "Reciprocal Centimeter", and "Gordon".

they should ideally also have a definite *threeness* to them! {sin, cos, tan} comes to mind. {godel, escher, bach}. {yan, tan, tethera}, if you've read 'the wee free men' (also sounds cute enough to be kitten names)

I'd leave a more coherent comment but it's not even 7am yet and I can't type without typos and I'm just giggling like crazy (and my brain is like caaaddr and it's a serious throwback to twenty years ago which is ouch, and foot pound really did make me laugh out loud). Kittens!
