You know what really gets me about that? The fact that any ol' yahoo can be a citizen without knowing anything about his country just by virtue of being born here.
They should institute this sort of test as a requirement for all citizenship.
what gets me is that there is such as thing as "country" or "citizen" at all. What are borders, really? Economic? Racist? I consider myself a human being, citizen of the world, really, not an American. Although I realize many priviledges go along with that.
So where should the rest of us go? Or should we just be killed off, slowly?
I failed miserably on this test. History, geography, and current events are vast spaces of ignorance for me. It's not that I don't care, exactly, but for some reason, this information will not stick in my head. I wish it were different. I am trying though. I sometimes think I'd trade my grammar skills (well, some of them) or my sensitivity to interpersonal relationships for a bit more fluency with history/current events.

But citizenship of any country, not just the US should be restricted to those who care enough to learn about their country.
