Something I've been working on today, I just felt like messing around with something that involved texturing and backgrounds, the purple lower portion of the image is dreadful!!!! Oh well, by the time I realised it was too late to go back. The different variations was just adjusting the layers to see how it would look. It was a little rushed, ( Read more... )

I'm still working on those, looking to have something playable done too. Well, maybe not playable, you'll at least be around to move around the area haha. Right now I'm brushing up paint skills, current examples are not perfect as you can see, but it helps especially when I want to fix my own textures for 3D work. I don't mean your pavements and doors, but your outfits and hairstyles. No idea when I'll have stuff up, when its not so ugly I guess >_<

:o It's pretty sweet looking. The purple is a bit out there though :o Why were you trying to shroud the ground? :|

It was supposed to have some sort of mysterious effect, lol. I think I should have played around with some tools more, its too bright at the bottom too. Can't help but want to fix it up but I've moved on already. Maybe I should just crop it haha. I could redo the background, shouldn't take more then an hour I guess.

This is Mo, I use to be in your class (year 2003-2005). How you doing mate?, I hope you are fine and doing well in your life and UNI.

My comment: I love the way you design.I think you have used Photoshop to paint your cartoonish character (2d), and the background is realistic. I suggest to change the background as cartoon style by using the filter (colour pencil)so you can make your character's transparency 100%. Then useImage>addgesment>level from window popup menu to make it closer to your character's brightness, and see the differnece.

I would like to contact with each other sometimes as mates and to learn from each other so many things.

Whoa Mo long time, I'll keep in touch, I want to talk to you about a few things and I want to see how your project worked out, I'm doing ok, started to up my work pace because I'm not happy with my presented work right now. Anyway I'm at work now but I'll try fiddling with the background later, slight problem is the forest is made of several layers. Truth is the character was designed to be a bit more realistic but I couldn't help drawing it out in the anime-ish style I'm used to doing.
Thanks again for the tip and I'll catch up with you soon.

Thanks mate and I'm so happy to contact with you. I have a few links to help you to get some ideas and might help you to improve your skills more. Because these websites really cool and quality work. These designers use graphic pen (tablet) in any size for quality painting, but much of them prefer big size. I hope you like them and get good ideas of it.

Cool I'll scan through the sites and see what I like, I try to work in large spaces too, the source for this image was 3072 x 3072, I just shrunk it for the web. I need to get a tablet too, I just don't want to spend too much.
