I haven't. And I have oily skin, so you'll have to let me know how it goes!

I have super oily skin and used the oil cleansing method for a while. I must not have had the combinations right because it actually made my skin really dry. I'm thinking of trying again since coming off the pill has turned my skin to complete shit.

Hm that was a really interesting article! So, it's just a matter of finding the right balance for your skin?

I tried to get off the pill while Steve was gone and I broke out terribly! I went back on it and still breaking out...ARGH! I cant win.

Yeah, that's pretty much it. I was doing it twice a day with a 50/50 combination. I guess I was just over zealous and thought since my skin was so bad it would be the best way to go, lol. Guess I was very wrong. I'm going to give it another go but following those steps and suggestions and see how that goes. I'm also going to try sunflower or grapeseed oil instead of the olive oil which I had at first.

If you search OCM in the interest part, lj should give you a bunch of reading.

I haven't tried those products before. But for some reason, this summer my skin has been the worst it's ever been in my life. I mean, good thing it didn't happen in HS, but I was banking on it NEVER happening since no one in my family has bad skin! Have you tried any products from Bliss? I'm considering going to Macy's and getting Proactive this weekend; that's how bad it's getting. Have you tried that?

I've never heard of Bliss, but I did try Proactiv maybe 2 years ago? I had switched to the Nuva Ring and broke out HORRIBLY! It sucked so bad so I had to switch bad to the pill and Proactiv didnt even really do much :oX

Bliss is a spa in NYC, but my Mom & sister have always gotten their catalog. I swear by a few of their products! Here's their site: http://www.blissworld.com/

And BC made your skin bad??? I've never been on BC, but everyone tells me it is supposed to make your skin better, so I had been considering going on it just for that. Now I don't know what to do! haha

Interesting...I'll have to check it out!

Well, I was on Necon for years and it was fine, but I was getting lazy and didnt want to take a pill everyday so I switched to the patch. It was great for my skin acne-wise, but the adhesive irritated my skin and actually broke the skin and I'd have scabs! So, I gave that up and switched to the ring which was PURE HELL on my face. It was terrible. After 4 months, I gave that up and accepted that I would be on the pill so that's where I stand now! I thought about taking a break when Steve was gone, but when I went off, I started breaking out! So, I went back on and still break out, but not as bad. I cant seem to win!

I am on Tri-nessa BC and my skin has been great. I also make sure I use a new face cloth every single day to dry my face after washing, seems to have helped with breakouts. Occasionally, in the past, I'd use the same face cloth to dry my face like 2-3 days since it didn't seem dirty but guess it was.

When I was having bad breakouts, I followed the regime on www.acne.org I washed my face for 2 minutes, put on BP 2X daily, and then lotioned 2X after letting the BP dry for a few minutes. At first my face was so dry and it peeled, even with lotion, but after a couple weeks my skin was clear! and it's been pretty good ever since! I use a cleanser that is a Walmart brand (compared to some kind from Olay).

I am not using BP right now. but I still wash for longer, dry carefully and lotion up.

I googled and saw there's only 4 BC that the FDA approves as the treatment of acne and Trinessa (Orthi-tri) was on there. I'd prefer to stay on a monophasic BC pill so I may ask about Yaz since that was on the list and covered by tricare.

I've been using BP forever...it just seems that as soon as one heals another pops up...it's so irritating!

what does Monophasic mean and what type are mine? I've heard of Monophasic but not sure what it is? Does it mean that all your pills have the same amount of hormones?

I also used BP for a long time but wasn't using enough at once. I got a 2% one so it wouldn't be as drying as the 10%. On the acne.org site it showed how much BP one should be using and I guess that's why initially it's so drying.

A lot of people seem to like Yaz, so you should check it out.

Yeah, monophasic means it's the same strength for all 3 weeks and I thing ortho has different horomone levels for each weeks? I just like it in case I need to skip a period, i can just continue to take a new pack after the 3rd week.

For sure. I've been using 2.5% since everyone says it's just as effective w/o being as irritating. I just dont get my skin right now. I see my OB/GYN next month so I will be asking!
