rar, I don't know if girls are supposed to be better at guys at multitasking. depends what you call multitasking to begin with. if it's doing two things at the exact same time, then i probably fail. if it's something like trying to read lecture notes, smsing a friend asking how their exam went, checking out the chick across the table to your left, while flirting with the one right infront of you - then just maaaaaybe i can multitask. maybe.
If so, then my [male] workmate is a girl and I'm da man, yo.
I often get too engrossed in shelving books in alphabetical order (it takes a lot of brainpower!) and forget to check whether there are customers waiting, often not realising until they're tapping their fingers impatiently at the counter. :P My workmate, on the other hand, is always quick to serve them.
And is THAT why some people don't leave until you're like "UH... WE'RE CLOSING"!! :O
grrrr i know exactly how it's like. if it's that, it's definitely not a gender issue. most guys AND girls sit there even when i start sweeping around them or my boss turn off the lights and closed the doors!!! it's more like attentional bias >
i read somewhere that guys can break down tasks and do small parts of many tasks at one time (hence, the illusion of multitasking). if women do multitask, in the sense that their full attention is shared amongst all tasks, then they are trully amazing creatures.
on the other hand, i think as men, concentrating on one task at a time does have its benefits - it ensures that you're there in the moment and nothing else has your sway, and also (hopefully) your experience of whatever you're doing at the time is as full as possible.
too much emphasis is on doing everything all at once.
Lies. I so cannot multitask. I was just complaining about this a couple of days ago. If not, I must be a man too (but for some reason I believe otherwise).
yo, the point isn't a gender thing... at the heart of it is the fact that everyone has something that they will pay more attention to, to the exclusion of what's going on around them
Like how if I were playing RO, it would be fairly easy for me to carry on a phone conversation whilst playing, but if I were playin a competitive RTS or running an instance in WoW, it would instantly become 3x harder
s'like if you were competitively playing a fighting game and you needed to win, you couldn't do anything else...
