I'm two days into term 1 at the Academy of Interactive Entertainment. There are 4 terms of 8 to 10 weeks each, making about 36 weeks. That's 50 percent more than a uni year ( Read more... )

Good luck with it man, they do churn out some pretty cool stuff, but I have heard some complaints from the guy who hires programmers at a games company about the people it produces.
Mostly just that because they all work on the same project and are taught exactly the same material, so when they present the game when they're being interviewed theres 10 people saying they worked on the same game, but they can't be sure exactly who did what.
So if I can give you any advice try to also work on your own little tidbits, if you have free time to practice it, work on little tech demo stuff on the side, because when you come out of it you're going to look exactly the same as everyone else in your course, so you'll need to stand out.

Let me know how the course goes though, it does look pretty fun.

Hey, that's pretty exciting. Taking part in a team effort to make something creative, that is. :D I didn't even know you were in to that kind of stuff (game design, as opposed to playing. I kind of had a strange inkling about the latter)
