Language and Offensibility

Many people (not everyone) throw the word "dick" around a lot, as something to describe a rude person, an 'ass' etc.

And then people get panties in a wad over calling people a 'cunt' because how dare they make something rude out of a word for female genitalia.

I've grown up with it being a word you just don't use, so I'm not saying I disagree with people who hate using it, its just.. there's some irony, you know? I mean, I guess if these people also disagree with using dick, its fine, but otherwise...meh.

A long time ago, it wasn't even a word that people cared about that much over any other word for genitalia, or 'swear' word.

Its interesting how much words and word usage changes, and how its also used as a reason why they can use it how they want.

Like rape. If you play video games, you've probably heard that word a lot to refer to getting killed by other players, by bosses, or in killing other players etc, and people think its okay.. whereas if we made an effort, we could, potentially, limit people to using it specifically for what it is.

And then there's gay, how it used to be happy, then homosexual, and used to describe basically anything you dislike by teenagers everywhere. Or how fag is a cigarette in europe/australia, but god forbid you use that word around any american, or they'll think you're insulting them.

The evolution of language... you either accept it, ignore it, or work to change it. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not, and most people prefer to accept or ignore.
