Tomorrow night JJ and I get to "room in" at the hospital. Wednesday, she comes home. I'm suddenly terrified.

Well, she did it. She's five pounds and 2 ounces as of tonight at 2am. We had quite the little visit today. Started off the visit with the momentous weigh-in. And there was much rejoicing. Then momma got to hold her while we waited on the bottle to be fixed because the nurse tonight was a "by the booker" and nursing isn't exactly written in her ( Read more... )

The nurse said she won't be in the isolette much longer, and that when we came to visit tonight, we need to bring clothes. Onesies and sleepers she says. This makes me giddy. :) I can't believe we've been NICU-ing it for fifteen days already. It seems like an eternity. *sigh*

We breastfed again. Much better this time. She also wore clothes for the first time tonight. And she's monitoring her own temperature enough that her nurse this evening said "She's actually doing well enough to be out of this bed, but the pediatrician she has likes to keep his babies in isolettes for a long time." The gavage tube is out!! Bottle feeding every time now. :0)

Perhaps the reason she's sleeping through her bottles is because she uses all her energy up fussing for 30 minutes prior to her bottle feedings. *sigh* That was tough to watch. I never counted minutes on a clock so hard in my life. Stupid hospitals and their stupid time table rules. FEED MY CHILD WHEN SHE'S HUNGRY DAMN IT!

We noticed something last night. The nurse wasn't 100% careful with the gavage and there was quite a little bit of air that went down with her tube feeding last night, and loe and behold, she spits up. Of course, with the gavage feedings, they don't burp her. This is beginning to make sense. Some nurses report no problems whatsoever with spitups... ( Read more... )

her bottles through the night went better than the one yesterday while I was there. She took 20 ml's from each one and tube fed the rest. Much better than the 10 ml she took while I fed her yesterday. no new weight yet. She has a weak sucking reflex. They're working on it though. They have a speech therapist who comes in and works with the babies. ( Read more... )
