Transcribing is real intense work--especially since I don't have no fancy software or foot pedals to help me speed through the process. I think that I'm not the best person for it but the stuff you learn!
I still have 2 more interviews to go through (but the files were missing from the drive); I feel like I should pick up some of the references that were dropped, eg. books that these people read and/or wrote.
How are you?! Have you done anything special for Halloween?
I believe that it's difficult and time consuming! I've had to transcribe a couple of things before, and it took absolutely forever, ugh! It's also not a task that I find super satisfying, either, so better you than me... ;oP Are you enjoying it, or at least finding it satisfying?
I'm doing good, and needing to make an update to LJ, as always! :o) We had our Halloween party last night since the students have an event tonight, and it was a blast! My co-workers and I dressed up as Egypt, Turkey (me), and Israel, but as the super hero incarnations of these countries, which was a blast and also hilarious... ;oP Do you have any big Halloween plans?
It's not bad because they're such intriguing people--with such interesting stories. It's only when someone is talking with no sort of punctuation and starts with: "And so.." constantly that it gets a bit tiring. :P
Awwww fun! My gals and I hung out and ate/drank everything pumpkin and watched David Lynch's Twin Peaks--which is a bunch of 90s melodramatic soap opera-like, creepster, horror show. I dressed up kind of like a 80s biker chick! Mainly because I didn't want to grease my hair back like John Travolta from Grease lol. My friend took pictures so those will be coming in soon! You need to show me party pictures!!! :) I'm stoked to see all the costumes!
Oh, this is wonderful. It's amazing how one ball can mean so much to these children (and the people who are in need of a reason to go out and play). What a great idea!
Totally! It's amazing to hear about the poor of the poor who really enjoy football--which when you think about the business of professional football...it's run by really rich white men on top of other sorts of exploitation and what-not. So it's great to see the sport that's being played and enjoyed by "real people," shall we say, who love the sport because of what it is, stripped down to its essentials. Not because you thrive off an angry vibes of club rivalry or because there's a really hot player who models in Calvin Klein underwear or because they make manpiles with each other. I think we need to remember that for any sport really. I'm not saying professional people don't love the sport but there are equally millions more people who love the sport just as much
